  1. How is a Barnes DFA in the conversation?
  2. Cora is fine. He was successful in 2018 and 2021.
  3. Like you, I'd roll the dice. But I suffer from optimism LOL
  4. They thought it might be a lat strain at first, but it's a tear.
  5. Behind-the-dumpster diving? Dumpster overflow diving?
  6. We may be losing Bogaerts, but you're a little off base about his 2022 season. He has a 4.6 fWAR. His defensive rating is vastly improved over the last few seasons.
  7. And I try to talk you up as a nice Yankee fan.
  8. Whitlock pitched 2 innings on Aug 12, and got a 9th inning, 1 inning save on Aug 14. He pitched 2 innings on Aug 24, and got a 9th inning, 1 inning save on Aug 26.
  9. The most likely scenario is .500. They're still trying, at least.
  10. Yes, and that's why our pen was so good this year!
  11. Don't tell 700hitter I said this, but Pivetta's ERA with the Red Sox is about 4.35 after today. Before today he had an ERA+ of 103 with the Sox, a little better than average when adjusted for the ballpark. He's mediocre. He has a bunch of good games, and a bunch of games like today. To me he's kind of like Wakefield was in his latter years with the Sox. Wakefield ate innings, at a reasonable price.
  12. All true, and yet in the final analysis it's mostly the starting pitching that has sunk us. Factor in injuries and lack of depth as you please. When Nick Pivetta leads us in innings pitched by nearly 50 over the second place guy, that's not a good sign.
  13. Sounds about right.
  14. Devers only has 65 RBI, for that matter. If we're going by RBI, he shouldn't get a big contract either.
  15. Houck is a possibility. And BTW I'm not arguing that we don't need more back-end bullpen help. I liked the Foulke signing. I liked the Kimbrel trade. I like anything that helps us win games.
  16. So jackson's term for it is "multi inning relief weapon". Next we can have a poll on the best name for it.
  17. As you're saying, it has become a role. So you might as well call it something. I've seen it called relief ace more than once, and it seems about the best name for it.
  18. I'll post the way I want to. You can certainly stop responding to me if you prefer. You're probably right that I've been picking on you lately. Maybe it's because I like you and respect your baseball knowledge, but you disappoint me with your constant shots at Bloom supporters and "nerds". You often do it in a very passive-aggressive way. And then you will post things about how everyone has to lighten up and stop taking things so seriously. And then you go right back to the same stuff, just as you did on this thread, with the "only on Talksox" and "we all know who voted for relief ace" comments. Why is that necessary?
  19. If you Google relief ace you'll get a bunch of hits. I did not make it up. Jeezus.
  20. You know exactly what you're doing. "Only on Talksox." "The poll is slanted." "We all know who thinks the relief ace is the best choice." "The relief ace idea is not going to happen, except in the minds of the same few posters." Those are all your words, and they are directly aimed at other posters. Don't play dumb.
  21. How in the hell is the poll "slanted"? Ridiculous.
  22. Wow, what a sourpuss. It's just supposed to be a friendly discussion, but you have to use it to crap on other people here who think differently from you. I guess that's just the way it's going here lately.
  23. I was a big BS & T fan. Their first two albums are great, one with Al Kooper and one with David Clayton-Thomas. After that things started to slide a bit. I'd have to say they're borderline at best.
  24. This Yankee offense is feast or famine personified. They're the highest scoring team in the AL. They've also been shut out 11 times. Compare that to other AL East teams: Rays 7 Jays 7 Orioles 7 Red Sox 3 (LOL)
  25. #1 starter isn't really a confusing concept. But is the #1 starter necessarily an "ace", is the question. See 2015 Red Sox.
