  1. The Phils certainly made it look that way. Some might argue that the Astros are showing that they are built for the postseason, having made it to 4 of the last 6 WS, and 6 straight LCS.
  2. I hoped he might hit like he did in 2020, I admit it. I generally err on the side of optimism LOL
  3. We all know the bullpen needs to be seriously improved. We all know the new signing doesn't move the needle much.
  4. Forget about Brasier being shown the door, he has 9 lives with this team.
  5. notin liked it, and I was OK with it. I hoped Bloom was right about JBJ bouncing back.
  6. Just for housekeeping, we still have Brasier.
  7. Rendon was a much better defender so that comp doesn't really work either.
  8. Austin Riley's deal is a reasonable comp, if you adjust for the difference of two arb years between them.
  9. Yes, they have to sign him, no question about it.
  10. Offense was way down in 2022, so it's a fair point that Devers's 2022 numbers were a lot better than they look at face value.
  11. If he's a DH, his comps are Ortiz and JDM.
  12. A more skeptical view would be that 1fWAR costs about 8M on the free agent market, because there are so many busts baked into the average.
  13. He's not Ortiz or Manny.
  14. But his projected 2023 WAR is 4.8. Which probably has something to do with the fact that 2019 is still his best season. I love the guy and want him signed, but I think we have to be realistic about how good he's going to be. Plus he had some hamstring issues this year that impacted him for quite a while. Baseball is hard on the body.
  15. Only one of the transactions was a head-scratcher, though.
  16. Urquidy seems to look like a stud every time I see him pitch. But his overall numbers are only OK. He has an excellent WHIP of 1.09 but a shaky FIP of 4.35, which appears to be directly related to a penchant for giving up homers. His career ERA is 3.74, for the old schoolers.
  17. Maybe BTV figures Houston has lost their marbles because they parted with Click...
  18. moon said BTV accepted Verdugo for Urquidy AND Neris. Seems implausible, but what do any of us know.
  19. It's kind of ironic that Dombrowski got a big extension, while Click basically got shown the door.
  20. Why? The only logical explanation I can see is a conflict between him and Crane.
  21. It sounds good.
  22. This is assuming: a) They like our plan of replacing JDM with Hozzy/Bobby D. They like McGuire and Wong at catcher.
  23. But if they sign Correa it'll knock 30-35 off the 85-95.
  24. He is Canadian, though. We're not always all about the money. :D
