We'll never know for sure, of course, but you can certainly argue that without Lackey and Price, our last title would be in 2007. Hypothetically, if we did know this was true, would anyone want to undo those signings?

Is Rodon's 162 million really a much bigger risk than any other large and long pitcher we could acquire?

Rodon's contract is also just 22 mill higher than Story's.

Well, in a hypothetical world he could have signed Gausman (5.7 fWAR) for 110 mill instead of Story for 140 mill.

I think it makes the game a little better. Seeing a guy smash one on the ground between first and second only to have it played by a guy in short right field wasn't a great thing to watch. Nor was seeing a guy smash one on the ground up the middle only to have it played by the shifted SS.

OK, I should have just said "unnamed sources". As for not pointing fingers, what about the accusations against the Dodgers as the worst cheaters-do they not count?

I thought 19 games a year against other AL East teams was a bit much. In 2003-2004 we played the Yanks 52(!!!) times including the playoffs. 13 games a year is still plenty IMHO.

I don't think you can just play for 1 run with this rule, unless of course you're the home team and the visitors didn't score in their half. Worthy of a discussion though...

It's all second-hand accounts from unnamed sources. And although they reflect badly on Cora, from the looks of it, he's far from alone in this book. Note the accusation about the Dodgers being the worst cheaters in baseball. I think the sign-stealing scandal will go down along with PEDs as another dark period in baseball history.
