  1. Sale's option is a vesting one.
  2. You saw the results, man. I'll call it right now: Wong is our #1 catcher. If they both stay healthy, he's the one who will get 60-70% of the starts. He just might be a pretty good one.
  3. He was inducted in 2018.
  4. Actually if you could sign children of players to some sort of deal at an early age that might be fun. The Jays of course have My Three Sons on their team, and 2 of them are stars. The other is a utility type.
  5. I just don't have time to wait 1,500 innings any more. I'm old, man.
  6. Yeah, for 4-5 days at least. After all, being proved right means more than the Sox winning or losing.
  7. Looks like Wong is catching tonight, so here goes.
  8. Similar unknown quantity factor, age etc.? Maybe not. Just a thought.
  9. Could be. So far the binky has been full of explosives.
  10. Now go 20 back from 2001.
  11. OTOH Senga, who seems like a reasonable comp to Yoshida, got about what was expected, I think.
  12. Heh...well, Garrett's performance as a starter last year was a bit iffy, and then he got hurt, so I don't think we regarded him as a sure thing. But you're certainly right about the overreactions to one game.
  13. There was talk of significantly lower numbers being expected for him.
  14. The contract San Diego gave Bogey was nutty, I'm not defending that by any means.
  15. Whitlock had a dramatic improvement from Start 1 to Start 2, so it can happen.
  16. Can't hurt to try Wong with Sale. Let's see what Cora does. Surely at some point he switches from the straight platoon.
  17. OTOH, it's probably a good thing he's not saying "Yeah, Sale is f**ked."
  18. Too much digging required for that. But we talked about it a lot here, Old Red in particular.
  19. You're right. My gloom has basically carried forward from 2022 and the offseason. I was expecting more and they really let us down IMO.
  20. TBD, who knows if his elbow will be a continuing issue.
  21. I can go along with that, but now we're into Sale and Kluber imploding when McGuire is behind the plate. I will be so happy when you guys are proven right...
  22. To be expected, maybe not. Warning signs, absolutely.
  23. Which is commendable. My worry has definitely been fueled by what the other scouts said about his power not carrying over.
  24. Schwarber got $79 mill for 4 years, so $19.75. Yoshida got $90 mill for 5, but there was also a posting fee of $15 mill or something like that.
