  1. Not sure how you can feel so confident about that. I'm not worried about Devers, but I can't say there's anyone else on the roster I don't have doubts about.
  2. Why paying double-one for home and one for work?
  3. I haven't felt this down about a Sox team for a long time. It is good to see that others are keeping their chins up. I just think this team has been very poorly constructed by Bloom. And injuries like Duvall's are nails in the coffin.
  4. The Sox proved last year you can have the worst of both worlds - exceed the tax threshold and finish under .500.
  5. Realistically, we should be happy to win one of the next two.
  6. I would agree that none of us know a thing about exactly what Henry's plans are any more. But common sense suggests he's not actually aiming for bad, boring teams, and the declining attendance and TV ratings that are apt to follow.
  7. Just like that we only have 2 healthy hitters, Devers and Verdugo, with an OPS over .680. Yikes.
  8. Maybe the secret plan of the 2023 team is to tank, again.
  9. After 11 games we're back in last place, 6 games behind the Rays, 2 behind the Yanks and Jays.
  10. Zac Eflin just went on the IL so we face the Rays top pitching prospect Bradley tonight.
  11. But yeah, Bogey is off to a smoking start. Good for him. Bad for us. Couldn't fit him into our little budget. Story will be back sometime though.
  12. We can't even hope for a rainout.
  13. This season has total disaster written all over it, Red.
  14. Kike and Duvall both missed a lot of time last year. Both getting older and breaking down. Bloom put together a team with a lot of question marks, that needed everything to go right in near-miraculous fashion. Duvall's injury only highlights this.
  15. Duvall is/was part of the Stopgap Squad. There were a lot of ?s, that's why we got him cheap.
  16. So how has he pitched well?
  17. If we say they should have re-signed Bogaerts, that will just open up the same case we've already litigated a million times. The bottom line is we all agreed this was a huge offseason for Bloom. And for whatever reasons, budgetary or otherwise, he didn't do much to upgrade the team over last year's 78-84 squad.
  18. So stopgaps become startgaps.
  19. Yep, what we have is a patchwork bridge. A couple storms and the whole thing is in the water.
  20. Like I say, the time for moves was in the offseason. Now we're stuck with what we've got.
  21. We all said a lot of things had to go right for this team to make a run at a playoff spot. Duvall's injury is now a thing that didn't go right.
  22. It's not a good time now, the time for Bloom to build the team was in the offseason.
  23. Reynolds's 0.8 fWAR in 10 games this year is pretty impressive, though.
  24. LOL we'll find a way to discredit Dave somehow, even if it's for good prospects he left behind. (I'm joking. You're generally fair to DD.)
  25. Cash seems to be a first-rate manager, but as far as I know he's not the guy who keeps constructing an upper tier roster on a lower tier budget.
