  1. At the end of the day that stuff is all minutiae, fun to jabber about, but the only thing that really matters is the W-L records.
  2. As a semi-objective onlooker, moon wasn't being belligerent at all IMHO.
  3. When I saw the Yankees had a player named Willie Calhoun I thought he might be a prospect I hadn't heard of. Then I looked up his B-R page and couldn't quite believe what I was seeing...
  4. Both of JD's half-numbers look bigger to me.
  5. And maybe the worst part is that it persuaded Bloom he could replace Vaz with McGuire.
  6. One more time we get the better pitching when Wong is behind the plate...
  7. Yankees might have a closer issue. And what is Willie Calhoun doing on the team?
  8. Right, but Henry seems to have given Bloom a really tight budget for whatever reason.
  9. JDM is off to a good start, with an .881 OPS. Could signing Turner instead be another mistake?
  10. With the money Bloom gave Story and Yoshida, we could have had Gausman and Senga.
  11. Maybe Senga was a much more worthwhile risk than Yoshida.
  12. And he cost less than Yoshida. But who needs pitchers?
  13. Bloom said he was going to acquire a starter who would provide "leadership, innings and upside". Pretty hard to see the upside in a 37 year old whose fastball tops out at 88.
  14. Joely has a career fWAR of 1.2 in 146 IP. Not really a big difference-maker.
  15. fWAR per 150 games for career to date: Bogaerts 4.13 Devers 3.98 So pretty close. The main plus for Devers is in the age category.
  16. I think he would have taken that.
  17. I thought we agreed that nobody knew what he would have taken pre-2022?
  18. He's not a DD fan.
  19. He's been a great owner for the most part. But the revolving door of executives since 2011 doesn't reflect very well on him, and it seems to have finally blown up on him in a big way.
  20. And I think even those fans who were booing weren't expecting the 2023 team to be as bad as they look right now.
  21. I'd go 55% Henry 35% Bloom 10% DD/Sale Henry gets extra weight because he hired Bloom.
  22. And right now there's nothing he can do to fix it. He made his bed this offseason and is now lying in it.
  23. It is, however, 2 seasons of small but close to identical samples. There's something weird going on, man. Anyway, it'll be interesting to see who Cora starts on a game-to-game basis.
