  1. The sticky stuff issue is obviously still with us, as evidenced by future HOFer Scherzer getting suspended for 10 games.
  2. If Wong turns out to be a really good catcher, that makes the Betts trade look better. And Winckowski is certainly making the Benintendi trade look a lot better these days.
  3. Except that Wong can't possibly catch every game. McGuire is a work in progress as a catcher, I think.
  4. There are some positive signs now for sure.
  5. Wong will almost certainly catch tonight with Whitlock. McGuire will likely catch Bello for the second time tomorrow.
  6. Not sure how that applies to baseball. A zero-sum game is like when you play poker for money with your friends.
  7. The Red Sox are now over .500 but still in last place. Since MLB expanded from 4 to divisions to 6 divisions, no team has ever finished over .500 and in last place. But the 2005 Nationals came close, finishing 81-81 and in last. After that the best record by a last place team is 78-84. It's been done 3 times, twice by, you guessed it, the Red Sox, in 2015 and 2022.
  8. Cora is a really good manager and a big reason this team is staying afloat, IMHO.
  9. We're now 3-6 in McGuire starts. But, he got pinch-hit for in the 6th inning, and the CERA gap increased. Yes, I have become a bit obsessed with this, but I'm convinced that Cora and the team are paying a lot of attention to it too.
  10. Bogey tends to be a fast starter with the stick.
  11. Yes. Also, we're playing the Brewers, but we don't get bogged down by details here.
  12. Jeez, what is this, school?
  13. People can talk about whatever they want to talk about.
  14. 8-4 with Wong. 2-6 with McGuire. Sometimes you just have to go with what seems to be working.
  15. This I agree with 100%
  16. All the conventional numbers seem to show McGuire is fine. So what do you think they're looking at?
  17. Hugh, if they were staying with anything like a platoon Wong would not have started 2 of 3 games in the Twins series with the Twins starting righties. That's pretty obvious to me.
  18. Because those records, while not as bad as vs. the Jays, were still pretty darn bad...
  19. Don't have the answer.
  20. I'll be against McGuire if the results continue as they have been. But you're certainly right, someone else has to catch 50 games or so.
  21. I'm just reporting on the facts, notin. At this point I'm not sure how anyone can't see they're favoring Wong, and why that might be... Plus, your first sentence makes no sense whatsoever to me...
  22. 6-13 vs Yanks 7-12 vs Rays
