  1. You sure about this? I think Ref was on the IL the first half of August looking at the game logs.
  2. But of course we don't want McGuire to catch Sale.
  3. His SLG is only .354 though. Only 4 doubles.
  4. Anything he did would be risky, I think we all get that. I just don't think if we miss the playoffs there will be many pats on the back for doing his best and running into bad luck and all that. The Rays are happy they got Eflin, the Rangers are happy they got Eovaldi, we got Kluber...them's the breaks.
  5. Signing Eflin or Kluber instead could have meant an additional 5 wins. Whether that would be enough I don't know.
  6. There's also the fun of another surprise-filled Bloom trade deadline coming soon.
  7. My expectations were a little higher this offseason, especially after Bloom made his remarks about getting a starter who would provide "innings, leadership and upside". He talked the talk and didn't walk the walk.
  8. I do find it comical when people say "Just because Bloom hasn't signed a starter to a long-term deal yet, it doesn't mean he won't in the future." Henry didn't guarantee him a 10 year run, folks.
  9. These are all niceties. The fact is that Kluber was the only signing of a starting pitcher in this much-anticipated offseason for Bloom.
  10. Signing Kluber might lead to us missing the playoffs and Bloom getting fired, which would render all of these delightful academic discussions moot.
  11. Bloom doesn't sign starters to more than a year, so he really compresses that equation LOL
  12. I didn't like that trade at all. Kelly did pitch well in the 2018 playoffs though.
  13. Will he get to the half billion mark, or even top it, seems to be the question.
  14. That's certainly the way Sox ownership and management should be seeing it. By the way, welcome back, UN, you were missed.
  15. Get ready for a lot more Reported Interest culminating in another $10 million, one year signing. Assuming Bloom is still here.
  16. Right, and when Verlander gets shelled in a game, "ace" becomes "so-called ace". It's all majorly stupid stuff.
  17. Maybe, but Kluber is not going to get the chance at redemption that Lackey did. Kluber is just 10 mill down the drain, and a blow to our playoff chances.
  18. Don't forget another year was added on at minimum wage because of the injury clause.
  19. And Bloom loves to shop at the 5 and 10 (million) store for starting pitchers...
  20. Richards didn't bother me that much because at the time dumpster diving seemed to make sense. But I didn't realize at the time these are the only kind of starting pitcher signings Bloom will make.
  21. $10 million for 9 s***** starts, great investment, huh?
  22. I still find it hard to accept the Sox missed out on both Eflin and Eovaldi apparently because they wouldn't cough up a little extra dough. We're not even talking about big amounts of money compared to what we've blown on other players. Too much attention paid to a strict budget, and it's proving costly.
  23. As Jax would say, he's elderly.
