  1. Good thing he waited till he was ready, or the numbers would really be bad.
  2. Average Fan was mad about those things. Future-Hugger Baseball Nerd was mad they didn't sell off.
  3. Funny how he recorded the last 3 outs of the World Series while injured.
  4. Someone who gets it.
  5. How many times do we have to go over this? Many players won't negotiate once the season starts.
  6. And Sale wasn't vastly better than Corbin notwithstanding the Recency Effect? Also, I'm disappointed in you not making the present value adjustments. The official AAV is 25.6 mill.
  7. It definitely promises to stay weird.
  8. So does John Angelos. Yeah, this is a debacle extraordinaire. Makes you realize the Red Sox organization may have its issues, but it could be a lot worse.
  9. True. Some no-hitters have really been costly in the modern era of 110 pitch limits.
  10. It was also a well-below-market contract that Sale wouldn't have signed as a free agent-if he was healthy. I think both sides factored in the injury risk. It's the non-TJS injuries that have really killed this contract. Obviously in retrospect it should never have been done.
  11. Who makes the final call on paying the studs or watching them walk? Just look at the Yanks. Twice now Cashman has been elbowed out of the way, once by Hank on A-Rod, once by Hal on Judge.
  12. Michael Lorenzen really knows how to make a deadline trade look good.
  13. Blaming DD for not extending Betts makes as much sense as blaming Bloom for trading him. Zero equals zero.
  14. I'll just keep saying the same thing about Betts. JH balked at what Mookie wanted. It's as simple as that. We can make it as complicated as we want, but sometimes the simple answer is the right one.
  15. I'm still fine with that. To me the real f***up was going over the CBT at the start of the year with the JBJ trade. We all have our own special things to complain about.
  16. That's like asking why someone would keep complaining about Dombrowski even though he did exactly what JH hired him to do.
  17. Can the Red Sox please put some runs on the board early? That's still legal, right?
  18. You two have had a thing going for quite a while now.
  19. Back end of the pen is never a pretty thing. We've just seen way too much of it lately.
  20. Nobody here wants the team to suck, I can guarantee that much. The apparent gloating is just another way of venting frustration. Some of it, of course, is an actual desire to see Bloom gone because of the disappointing results. But it really looks like his job is safe through another year. Year Five we really need to see some good results.
  21. Your take on it has always been consistent and reasonable.
  22. You know the answers.
  23. Nah, they had a ton of time to extend Mookie, they just didn't show him enough money. They signed the extensions with Sale and Bogaerts after they gave up on Mookie.
  24. Well, he did bring up Moreland. Someone needs to state the case much better...
