  1. Sir Triston he is.
  2. Rays take 3 of 4 from Seattle, doing damage to the M's playoff run.
  3. He's had some short-term/minor bingos. We need some long-term/major ones.
  4. I'm an agnostic on the deadline stuff. My criticisms are about his offseason work.
  5. I think even the most diehard fans realize this season is over, and I can certainly understand them thinking it's time to play the kids.
  6. Sure, I'll go along with that.
  7. Can you document this with a great fielding/terrible hitting SS?
  8. Bloom has been wrong a bunch the last two years.
  9. It's important. Not quite important enough to save last year's head-scratcher, though.
  10. He should be. And that makes him a very expensive DH - only a little cheaper than JDM's contract, when you add in the posting fee of $15 mill, which is very real money even if it doesn't count for luxury tax calcs.
  11. His best moves have generally been the fringe-y kind, like Wacha last year and Turner and Duvall this year. But they'll be gone next year, so there's no long-term value.
  12. People are asking why they don't just play Rafaela every day and I'm suggesting it's partly because they're not giving up on the season, even though our chances are realistically long gone. Last year you wanted a deadline fire sale, which would have meant essentially giving up with 2 months left. Frankly, I'm not really sure what it is you're arguing.
  13. I guess Bloom thought bringing Wacha back would be too predictable. He likes to do the unexpected, even if the unexpected is s*****.
  14. Starting pitchers are all gambles. Nobody has a simple answer. Bloom certainly hasn't shown us one.
  15. I think I used him as an example of a big spread between fWAR and bWAR and how in cases like that it might be appropriate to use FUBAR. Admittedly, a lot of the criticism of the Kluber signing came after we actually saw him pitch and realized he had no fastball left. The bottom line is, Bloom chose to add nothing but Kluber and it was a disaster. And like you keep saying, he did nothing about it even after seeing it was a disaster.
  16. Talksox seems to agree that the Sox should either trade Verdugo or Duran.
  17. He's a very good fielder.
  18. I over-reacted. Mea culpa. I have no problem admitting I was wrong. I was wrong about Song, too.
  19. I just meant "matter" in terms of chances of making the playoffs.
  20. If you use it for the immediately preceding season only, sure. If you disregard age and injury history prior to that preceding season, sure.
  21. It just means they're easing him into things. He should be the starting CF'er on opening day 2024.
  22. It appears that all the big players are in on Yamamoto. Cashman was there in person to see him toss the no-hitter. I'd say there's no way Henry intends to try to win that auction. It's gonna get stupid. Maybe $250-275 mill?
  23. The comparison to Yoshida is...specious.
  24. Now try his fWAR. And then point us in the direction of the obvious winners.
  25. Hypothetical histories are moon's domain.
