  1. At least that was only one season.
  2. Suzuki would have been a much better signing. Much more complete player. 4.7 fWAR in 230 MLB games. Terrible decision-making by Bloom.
  3. It was another bad move by Bloom. Anyone who can't see that yet is being a Pollyanna.
  4. As I posted in another thread: Tanner Houck is a 3 inning pitcher. Not many things have been more obvious in the history of the world. Innings 1-3 this year 2.12 ERA Innings 4-6 9.26 ERA He'd be good in the bullpen. But he's in the rotation, because of Bloom's malfeasance.
  5. Can Masa (0.7) stay ahead of Pablo Reyes (0.6) in fWAR? One of the things we're watching.
  6. In the last 2 games our offense has 30 K's and 2 walks.
  7. The Yanks are trying to hand us 4th place, but I'm not sure we want it.

  9. It's not about him not being a good player, though. 1) He only has one year of control left. He'll be a free agent after 2024. 2) Raffaela should be taking over center field next year. Duran can play right field instead of Verdugo. Yoshida is in left. 3) We should get something of use in return.
  10. The standard procedure in trading for a TOTR starter seems to be giving up a package of prospects that haven't played at the major league level yet, or very little.
  11. The Rays are magicians. They lose Springs and Rasmussen and McClanahan and Franco, and they keep on rockin'.
  12. Should have been clearer, I was referring to the combined record for the two seasons.
  13. Compare Casas's K/BB ratio to Dalbec's, even when Bobby was going good.
  14. Yeah, any talk of trading this guy is silly.
  15. When we're under .500 for Bloom's third and fourth seasons, I think it's natural to be questioning stuff.
  16. And if not he'll be a DH monster.
  17. It's not about the 3 innings, obviously, it's about 2 pitchers being dumped by the Sox and succeeding elsewhere, and the fact they didn't have Brasier try a cutter.
  18. What happened with our ties to the Rays?
  19. Xander's contract is stupid, but... His 3.3 fWAR would be leading the Sox. Our leader is at 2.6. Good thing we have Story instead.
  20. Littell with the Rays: 54 K's and 6 BB's Brasier with the Dodgers .66 WIP (they said "Hey Ryan, ever think of throwing a cutter?) Fantastic work by Sox evaluators. Good thing we have a pitching savant like Bloom now. No wonder our staff is in such great shape. Can we at least fire Dave Bush?
  21. This story says the team told him. https://www.si.com/mlb/2022/07/29/xander-bogaerts-says-red-sox-will-not-trade-him-before-deadline#:~:text=Bogaerts%20does%20have%20a%20no,only%20team%20he's%20ever%20known.
  22. Because Manzardo is/was a fairly highly ranked prospect.
  23. Not-so-fun fact: Dalbec has a higher OPS than Trevor Story does with the Red Sox, and only a slightly higher K rate.
  24. With the occasional exception.
