It's amusing how little response there is to threads like this. Folks would rather spend pages arguing about some dead horse issue LOL For me the useful thing here is that we get 3 different WAR scores for each pitcher. fWAR and bWAR plus dWAR - Deserved Run Average. -
The only team I can think of that might trade for him is the Angels.

His .640 OPS in August and .641 in September have contributed to the offensive slide. That's indisputable fact.

The frustrating part is how much the offense went in the tank. Losing Duran and then Casas, Turner getting banged up, Story and Yoshida not doing much. At least the kids are hitting a little. Just another fustercluck of a season. Back-to-backers.

We're not sure exactly what doomed him. Probably a combination of things. The knock on him being indecisive does seem very credible.

I get what you're saying. But sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. The Yankees converted King from relief to starting and he's been doing very well. The Red Sox evaluation and coaching of pitchers remains very suspect. This year we saw Littell and Brasier go to other teams and succeed.

That's a fair point. Like I say, I'm putting all the blame on ownership. Unfortunately, under the circumstances it's hard to judge Bloom at all, because they gave him such a s***** hand to work with.

I believe Henry lowballed Betts all along. And it's worth noting that the recent statements by Betts clearly suggest that he did get a final offer after Bloom took over. He even said, if you want to know more about contract negotiations, you'll have to talk to Chaim about it.

Sale seems healthy and effective right now. I get what you're saying, but you can only work with the information you have right now. Pencillng him in as a #5 seems logical.
