It's funny, it seems like nobody here cares that much who the next CBO is. It used to be a big deal. But now we're all so jaded by all Henry's hirings and firings and don't expect anyone to last for long anyway...

The only thing that can positively impact 2024 is some aggressive and smart spending/trading this offseason. Nothing else much matters.

The Manfred agenda is maximizing butts in seats, eyeballs on screens, and easy access to betting.

Schwarber has a career OPS+ of 121 and can hit the ball out of Jellystone Park. His postseason OPS of .931 is fairly nifty, too.

Yoshida is about as useful in LF as JDM was.

Trading JD would have meant taking a money bath, I get that. If Bloom did not view Yoshida as a DH, that means Bloom made a very dumb mistake.

Could have signed Schwarber prior to 2022 and traded JD. Then Yoshida becomes irrelevant.

Yes, he's a textbook DH. Just like Yoshida. And I'd much rather have Schwarber than Yoshida.

Once they went from 2 divisions to 3 in each league, a champ like the 2006 Cardinals was inevitable.

Henry doesn't suck as a person. He's impatient and he's become mercurial. Maybe the departure of Lucchino had a bigger impact than we thought it might. Lucchino understood PR and how you to have to keep the customer satisfied to keep the cash cow in full health.

I'm starting to buy into the idea that Henry's focus on the Sox isn't what it used to be. But the Sox are still a massively valuable asset, and I don't think Henry has lost sight of that. I'm quite sure that back-to-back losing seasons played a big part in Chaim Bloom being shown the door.

Good point. The stories that have come out suggest that the new Sox CBO will just be a placeholder for AC... The Sox are just hilariously inept at this stuff these days.
