    He has averaged 3.4 fWAR the last 3 seasons. Average is 2.0, so a #3 would be about 2.0. He's clearly been a solid #2.

    Yes. Don't you old schoolers like innings and ERA too? Jon Lester was on 3 teams in 2 years, 2014 and 2015. Did that mean he sucked? Journeyman Jon?

    The projection is $225 mill, but there's a 15% posting fee on top, so if it's $225 mill the total actual cost is about $260.

    Even before the playoffs, he just had the best season of his career and his last 3 seasons all show a solid trend, so I think he'd still be looking at a big payday. It's not like Sonny Gray has been Mr. October, but he's going to get paid too. A lot of money chasing a little group of elite and semi-elite starters.

    Skepticism abounds. Not surprising, really, after the fiasco of the last two seasons. Henry and Bloom succeeded in lowering everyone's expectations.

    Sale wasn't actually injured at the end of 2018. When last seen he was striking out Machado to end the Series. From there it's up to the docs to examine him. That's my take, anyway.

    No. It's pure speculation. I just think DD is at least as smart as us, and he more than likely had good reasons for agreeing to the opt out. He's never been known to be shy about giving out large long contracts.
