  1. It'll actually be kind of grimly humorous if Moto decides to wait until January 3 and keeps this offseason in glacial mode until then.
  2. My problems with that: -I think Moto to the Sox is a pipe dream. Hardly anyone thinks the Sox are one of the faves to sign him. You don't think the Sox are signing him. -The prices on Montgomery and Snell will likely be even higher than originally projected. -Snell probably isn't a great target anyway because of his durability issues. It's basically down to Montgomery. And I have serious doubts the Sox will pay what it takes to win that bidding war either. The Sox passed on the reasonable deals - Gray, ERod, Wacha. I think there's just something seriously wrong with their thinking. Or it could be that Henry is still putting the budget clamps on too tight. Maybe they will prove me wrong.
  3. Meanwhile, another long meeting of the Red Sox brain trust winds down. Almost time to pack things up for Christmas.
  4. Gray looks like a steal to me at $75 mill, but what do I know, as the saying goes.
  5. That might be almost pointless - better to punt.
  6. I've been singing the blues for 3 offseasons now about starting pitchers they could have signed in the $50-110 million range. If their whole offseason plan was based on signing Moto, that'd be as sound a plan as me deciding to retire based on the assumption I was going to win the lottery next week.
  7. Too much hypothesizing involved there. I know what I wanted them to do, but that's of little use.
  8. Our front office needs some Viagra or something. They're been impotent for a long time now.
  9. That's the secret plan. Instead of "injury discounts", we're looking for "character discounts".
  10. "These two guys have dominated the game"?
  11. That report was ******** and has been debunked. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2023/12/yoshinobu-yamamoto-rumors-offers-300-million-yankees-mets.html
  12. But isn't the general objective to hit the mitt? If he misses the mitt and throws it over the heart of the plate and it gets hit 500 feet, does the pitcher still get credited with "control"?
  13. I'm beginning to have doubts we get Moto, Monty OR Snell. I think the Sox turn up their noses at the prices.
  14. I wonder if the Sox front office by committee allows such a thing as striking like a cobra. I think you have to go along to get along with these folks.
  15. In the world outside baseball, command and control are virtually synonymous. That's why this is so confoozing.
  16. Crag certainly appears to have plenty of patience.
  17. Cancel now, you can re-subscribe in the unlikely event the Sox get to work.
  18. It's not too late for the Sox to decide to just punt 2024.
  19. Looks like the Dodgers are quite serious about signing Moto too. They're trying to run the table.
  20. That trade exists only in moon's hypothetical otherworld.
  21. I think mvp and notin both made mistakes.
  22. The three last place finishes, you mean?
  23. It does seem that way. Senga had an excellent first season.
  24. No, that's only for Japanese hitters.
  25. Jeez, if we trade them Wong, they'll have the whole Mookie trade return...
