  1. The problem is, it doesn't look like that bottleneck holds any advantages for us. More likely it just means hyper-inflated prices for Montgomery and Snell.
  2. The only point was that Texas was not deterred by the expensively s***** results in 2022 to keep spending and trying to win a title. Quite the opposite, as it turned out.
  3. OK. I think there's a general point here, though, that anyone who thought the Rangers didn't have the money, or were deterred by the 68-94 season, couldn't have been any wronger.
  4. You missed the point too.
  5. Another misconception laid to rest.
  6. The other thing about this sensational offseason is that, as harmony pointed out, we've lost about 40% of the WAR of our position players from last year, in Verdugo, Duvall and Turner. Not that any of them had fat WAR's, but that's how s***** we were. As of today we're shittier.
  7. I get that. But it's pretty clear the Mets and Yanks are the teams pulling out all the stops here, and Moto responded by visiting them in NY. I think the Sox have given up on this a while ago. Just my guess.
  8. You missed the point by a week.
  9. This is what I don't get. How can you have command without having control?
  10. It has nothing to with Breslow. It's all Henry.
  11. Facts seem to suggest otherwise, sir.
  12. Also, Texas SHOULD have been on the radar, especially after forking half a billion for Seager and Semien.
  13. I know what the point was, and I think it has little relevance to the Sox chances of signing Moto.
  14. So now I suppose you're going to backpedal on your comments about Moto already being a Met LOL
  15. deGrom wasn't really a hot commodity because of his terrifying injury profile and his age. There's nothing in common between him and Moto.
  16. The distinction is a totally arbitrary and made-up one, but that's fine...
  17. And darkhorses never win something like this.
  18. Maybe the hesitancy and indecision we thought Bloom was guilty of wasn't his fault at all. Maybe it's the "process" that sucks.
  19. Just think how positive and enthusiastic Bloom always seemed to be. How'd that turn out?
  20. Maybe John Henry wanted to Throttle Werner when he heard that.
  21. I think I've already reached the point that if Moto signs with the Mets I'll be thrilled. Anybody but the Yankees. The Dodgers would also be kind of ridiculous.
  22. It'll actually be kind of grimly humorous if Moto decides to wait until January 3 and keeps this offseason in glacial mode until then.
  23. My problems with that: -I think Moto to the Sox is a pipe dream. Hardly anyone thinks the Sox are one of the faves to sign him. You don't think the Sox are signing him. -The prices on Montgomery and Snell will likely be even higher than originally projected. -Snell probably isn't a great target anyway because of his durability issues. It's basically down to Montgomery. And I have serious doubts the Sox will pay what it takes to win that bidding war either. The Sox passed on the reasonable deals - Gray, ERod, Wacha. I think there's just something seriously wrong with their thinking. Or it could be that Henry is still putting the budget clamps on too tight. Maybe they will prove me wrong.
  24. Meanwhile, another long meeting of the Red Sox brain trust winds down. Almost time to pack things up for Christmas.
  25. Gray looks like a steal to me at $75 mill, but what do I know, as the saying goes.
