  1. But ever other metric you can think of destroys him, value-wise.
  2. Poor Chaim. He was a bit of a Hapless Harry when it came to building the big team.
  3. Wow, that is not a rosy projection on Story's value. Sure it's right? Seems a bit low, frankly.
  4. I've already said too much about that signing LOL
  5. Man, if they trade both Story and Yoshida it would be f'king hilarious.
  6. We've become conditioned to expect to be disappointed. I'm hopeful something happens but I'll be far from shocked if it doesn't.
  7. They are getting really good at this lowering the bar thing.
  8. Is that "wondering" as in "something"?
  9. Bloom was supposed to do that, wasn't he?
  10. He hasn't traded any prospects of note yet, though.
  11. If that comes off I'll feel much better. I have no doubt that Brez is exploring all the options. What I'm afraid of is that they're going to decide that the prices are too high in money and/or prospects.
  12. Yes, "more ground to make up". We finished 23 games behind Baltimore, 21 behind the Rays, and 11 behind the Jays. The team we finished closest to is the one that looks to be getting better. We should have no problem duplicating those results.
  13. I'm so desperate for encouraging news or rumors that I've been checking out the SOSH forum. They seem to think the Sox are a good bet to sign Imanaga.
  14. My arguments are all based on how bad our rotation still looks. We all agreed that the rotation was our weakness and needed desperately to be upgraded. If they do nothing else they will have effectively downgraded it by swapping Sale for Giolito. To me that's f'king bizarre. I'm not looking at this trade in isolation. In isolation it looks like it could be a good move. But in the context of our s***** rotation, I'm not so sure. Lots of time left to get that starter we need. Zero faith on my part because I honestly don't know what these guys are thinking any more.
  15. Yes, it's a ridiculous image. I was going for that.
  16. This is my problem exactly, Hitch - the reasoning is based on us not really being in on 2024 anyway. Let's just embrace a third straight sub-.500 season and raise our glasses to the future. I'm really noticing that this ownership has succeeded to a certain degree in lowering people's expectations.
  17. Much, much better.
  18. I tend to agree. If you look at Buehrle's K rate you'd think the guy must have been a bum. Buehrle seemed like one of those guys hitters made "comfortable outs" against, to use a term I always liked.
  19. They seriously do.
  20. Jeez, wickedly original comebacks to that by notin and now you.
  21. What the heck is frontline pitching? That's even vaguer than "ace".
