Maybe so, but the net result of those trades was moving established players for prospects/depth and shedding salary.

It looks to me like Breslow is doing some good work. But what's frustrating is that he seems to be confined to playing on the margins.

They got a starter prospect for Schreiber, though. We sure as heck need some of those.

Breslow's recent moves don't really say that IMO, because he's added some bullpen arms too (Campbell, Weissert, Luetge). I think this offseason's plan will become official when JM signs with us or not.

And Jansen's $16 million will be gone by 2025 if not sooner.

Conversely, it doesn't much matter if you have a good rotation if they're backed up by a pigpen.

Red Sox sign Liam Hendriks 2 years/$10 million. He'll be back this year some time after ASB.

That's not exactly how it works though. A team that's projected for 90 wins +/- 10% would have a range of 81-99. You'd much rather have that projection. I'm only guessing that they use 10%, maybe it's lower than that.

B/U/C have a tad more in MLB credentials than Lauer.

I think the consensus of all the pre-season projection systems is about 80 wins for us. And it's a perfectly reasonable number. With an error range of about 10% on either side, I assume.

IMHO it's going to be yet another PR nightmare for the Sox FO if Montgomery signs elsewhere on a reasonable deal.
