    Breslow acknowledged that we needed another RH bat and then...well...he just didn't get one. That's kind of the way it goes with this team now.

    Don't know about the fielders but the pitching is clearly much tougher. They throw harder and with more spin, and they have shorter outings.

    The same applies. Devers has a track record. Casas looks like a rising star. Duran has some promise. O'Neil has some pop. There's not much else.

    So what? It's a team that finished under .500 the last 2 years and is projected to do the same this year.

    It's not the numbers so much as how he looks. He's small, he's slow and he has trouble getting the ball in the air.

    Hard to say. He devoted an awful lot of the 2023 spending budget to it.

    He's already had 2 injury issues this year too. Those can take a toll.

    It's a game designed for overreactions. However, when you take a cold hard look at our roster of position players, after the loss of Story, it's pretty damn weak. It took a little while for it to sink in that Story is flat out gone for the year already. We really couldn't afford that kind of loss.

    Let's face it, Yoshida was an incredibly dumb signing by Bloom. I wonder how much it played into him getting the axe.

    He's on pace for about 25 extra base hits. Not what you want from your $18 million AAV DH.

    Yoshida looks awful in the early going. Pounding one ground ball after another to the right side. I don't think he got the memo about launch angle being a thing...

    Duran may be improved but is he good? If you take Rafaela out of the picture I don't think it's going to be pretty.

    OK, it's a weak roster thing AND a Cora thing. We can both enjoy our half of the blame pie. What do you think of our RH hitting in general? It looks pretty dreadful to me. Rafaela was a hope but that hope is not looking good so far.

    The 2024 team has a lot of kids playing as it is. I don't think they'll be shy about moving ATM through the ranks, though.
