  1. Yes, Carp is not only a fish, it's also an acronym for s***.
  2. Carp smoked that ball.
  3. So the Red Sox had a double and two singles in the 2nd and didn't score. And just for fun they did the same thing in the 4th. Man this can be a bizarre game.
  4. Damn I like Napoli.
  5. Aceves vs. Masterson does seem to put us at a disadvantage tonight, so maybe some reverse psychology isn't such a bad thing for this one. I think we're gonna get pounded tonight. Not much sense even showing up, really.
  6. Billy Conigliaro
  7. It is indeed a great fanbase. It's also a stone cold crazy one, we prove that here every day.
  8. And with all that the Doggers are 7-7 after last night.
  9. On the balls and strikes thing, I make this the second game of the year that's been decided by one call going one way or the other. In the Hanrahan blown save a called ball cost us a win. In this game a called ball led to a win for us. The pitch graphs say Ross was struck out by Jimenez in the second on pitch #5. Instead he got a walk. Then Ciriaco lined out to right for a sac fly. If that pitch had been called a strike, it's possible the Sox would have scored zero runs that inning instead of 7.
  10. By an odd coincidence, Friday is also the day Ortiz will lose $2 million if he's still on the DL.
  11. From what I gather from reading people's opinions of what an ace is, to me the consensus seems to be that an ace is a pitcher who is a possible Hall of Famer, or a certain one. The Red Sox have therefore had 4 true aces in the last 50 years, Tiant, Clemens, Pedro and Schilling.
  12. Napoli almost pulled it off last year. 227/343
  13. If he stays healthy he gets $13 million. I hope he does.
  14. Well jung, if he stays healthy enough he's going to get the $13M.
  15. We just out-Rayed the Rays. They scored 3 runs in 3 games. Love it.
  16. Napoli is a very productive .220 though, with 11 RBI.
  17. Last year Dempster pitched at least 6 innings in 22 of 28 starts, at least 7 innings 9 times. That seems about average or a little above average.
  18. You may be at this a while. In 2012 the Red Sox had one 5-3 win. It was against the Rays though.
  19. In a perverse way, hiring Valentine may have been a brilliant success. It may have accomplished the goal of 'cleaning up the clubhouse', albeit in a very nasty way, by detonating a bomb in it.
  20. The Angels are a team that looks f***ed in the early going. 2-8 after losing to Houston. Weaver is out and Hamilton is hitting .179.
  21. I think you're reading a bit too much into the lifeless thing. The Yankees also looked that way and now they are back to life. The Jays' sparkplug, as such, will be Lawrie when he gets back. But what their season really rests on is the big guys in their starting rotation.
  22. Reyes being out won't be what makes or breaks the Jays. Dickey, Johnson, and Buehrle will do that.
  23. We're rained out tonight folks.
  24. Of course not...umps are only human...bad calls are part of the game...the bad calls go both ways...they even out over the course of the season...etc. etc. The technology is here for accurate ball and strike calls but it's more fun to let the men in blue guess and f*** up...
