  1. Put me down for the under on both of those numbers.
  2. Hamilton's average salary over the contract is actually 25 million. He's making 50 times as much as Nava this year.
  3. Yankees lost, need O's to lose too. If we win the nightcap we can pick up 1/2 game on each.
  4. I don't know how Ortiz's heel is, but his batting stroke looks great considering the layoff.
  5. Nava's ceiling may be higher than that. He seems to keep getting better. Some of his dropoff last year may have been due to the wrist injury. We'll see.
  6. Fred actually behaves much better here than he did on Sawxheads when I was there.
  7. Yes, thank God we didn't trade him.
  8. Latest figures have the 2013 payroll for tax purposes at 165 million, not including the additional 8 million Napoli will earn if his hip conditiion doesn't put him out of action. Lester is under control through 2014. (Team option for 2014 at 13 million.) Pedroia is under control through 2015. (Team option for 2015 at 11 million.) The really good news - Buchholz is under control through 2017 (Team options for 2016 and 2017 at a total of 26.5 million.)
  9. The Blue Jays look like crap. Their defence in particular is atrocious.
  10. Measuring the 'value' of a closer is actually pretty difficult. The WAR valuations for closers are virtually meaningless, because they are based so much on the number of innings. This really came across for me when I compared the valuations for Brad Lidge in 2008, when he had a perfect season, and 2009, when he had a nightmare season. WAR doesn't assign higher values to high-leverage innings.
  11. Harvey of the Mets. If you want answers, jung, this is the place. Edit: I lost on Jeopardy...
  12. You posted this 2 hours after the game's scheduled start time.
  13. All the best to you and other Cleveland sports fans. You guys have been suffering through a long dry spell.
  14. Katy Perry is more my type. That chick is stacked.
  15. I have very little opinion on Taylor Swift, and I think BTR is great, but I can't understand why he would use her as his avatar.
  16. This team isn't pretty. But it's been winning in a methodical way. Works for me.
  17. Heh heh...yes the standards can get pretty high sometimes. Even if you win 6-3 there will be people saying it should have been 10-1. Masterson is a decent major league pitcher. He made some good pitches to reduce the damage last night...or guys missed some hittable pitches...that happens too.
  18. Sure he is. But he needs to go down and focus on his hitting don't you think?
  19. Lefty on the mound, so a good spot for Gomes. It was also a defensive replacement. Nava switched from left to first and Bradley went into left. Good managing by Farrell.
  20. I don't think baseball will ever be able to switch to electronic strike zones, not for a while yet anyway. It could be done easily now. But a lot of people would despise it.
  21. That was some serious bullpen work.
