  1. The Sox O has a .640 OPS in September.
  2. Once Brez is finished addressing the pitching development, he's going to have to turn his attention to the hitting.
  3. These Red Sox couldn't sweep a pile of leaves right now.
  4. I was just joking around anyway.
  5. And that includes a really good first half of July for the Red Sox. Counting the resumed suspended game, the Sox are 23-35 in the last 58.
  6. Somewhere I saw or read an interview with Yaz in which he talked about Lonborg. He said Lonborg was a very tough guy and would actually ask Yaz if there was someone he wanted him to hit LOL And this was when pitchers had to step up to the plate themselves after hitting someone and might get plunked themselves.
  7. Yeah, it's nothing for us to worry about. It is eerily similar though. As is the roughly 100 year span between selling Ruth and trading Betts.
  8. "Opportunity to pursue new hobbies" - ouch. You do have a nice sense of acerbic humor.
  9. Living as I do about 650 miles away, I've only seen a couple dozen games at Fenway in my life. Not nearly enough. Definitely among the most pleasurable hours of my life. Often enhanced by alcohol, needless to say.
  10. Me and you are on the same wavelength here - the only place to build is up!
  11. What about more Monstah Seats? Just raise those back walls higher! (Sigh) I suppose there are some structural safety issues preventing that.
  12. I guess my joke sucked on two counts. 😁
  13. Yes, I believe it absolutely does. Much less crapshoot factor in football. Tom Brady played in 10 Super Bowls. Pretty much case closed. Mahomes isn't doing too badly either.
  14. I haven't heard them, but I might have to check out their awfulness.
  15. Go Bello. This season won't be a total loss if we can stay ahead of the damn Rays.
  16. I would absolutely re-sign Jansen, simply because he's a really good pitcher and he's a gamer. But it's an expenditure that's probably not going to fit into next year's budget.
  17. Our frog would need a jet pack up his butt to do that much leaping.
  18. The internal audit they commissioned is starting to bear fruit! 😎
  19. I've been having a lot of issues with this myself. I think we all know and accept why the ads are here, but at the moment they really seem to be disrupting the ability to post normally.
  20. So why not increase it to 16 teams, if it's the more the merrier? What's the cutoff point? I realize other sports let more than 12 teams in, but baseball is arguably a much different game, with a much higher crapshoot factor in each series.
  21. I guess it depends on how you interpret his fWAR. fWAR punishes DHs for only doing one thing. Especially if they're lousy baserunners as Yoshida and most DHs are. That new Mendoza line works for position players but I don't think it works fpr DHs. A permanent DH probably needs to OPS .825 or more to justify their existence.
  22. Yeah, they should never make any substantial changes to the physical structure, other than if they could somehow improve the seats. The essential shape and character should be preserved until the End of Days.
  23. Yoshida has a total fWAR of 1.5 in 2 seasons with us. That's not good. I think a DH has to post an OPS of .850 at minimum to be a true asset. Ortiz had some seasons of 4-5 WAR. The verdict is in - in spite of some promising little stretches, at the end of the day Yoshida is not a plus, he's a minus.
  24. Of course. Nothing can actually prevent baseball players from getting injured. I think everyone knows that. The main point about 2B is that it would be easier on his throwing arm, which is the biggest concern based on his injury history. His last injury came from diving for a ball.
