  1. What's really disturbing is blowing leads like this. 6-3 vs. the Yankees, 2-0 vs. the Giants. Offense shuts down and pitchers cough it up. And manager is starting to look questionable.
  2. I'm not giving up on Bogaerts just yet.
  3. 2 ML AB's and he's already left 5 guys on base. Welcome to the show kid. Like to see him hit one on the button tonight even if it's at somebody.
  4. Victorino's move to hitting only from the right side is looking brilliant so far.
  5. In a perfect world we'd love to have him back. But it's just one of those situations where the economics are virtually a no-brainer. Ellsbury will get way overpaid by somebody, we have Bradley ready to take his place, and we have other needs to fill.
  6. It's called going with the flow.
  7. No need for an identity crisis. You're a troll.
  8. No, it's Mike Carp. Are you trolling?
  9. Salty can't catch a break here. FanGraphs now has him at a 2.3 WAR.
  10. Couldn't find a picture of him for your avatar?
  11. To me this is not really an accurate way to describe it. With his numbers against righties he should get every start against them, which means he would be starting about 65% of the time.
  12. Baseball-Reference has Nava's WAR at 1.7, which in this case is a big difference from FanGraphs' 1.0.
  13. I don't know, but he looked great. Not just the pitching, but he also looks great physically...damn, he actually looked like a happy guy in the dugout.
  14. The Eck's verdict: dumb...we're trying to beat the Yankees here...should have just moved on after the first pitch behind A-Rod...made no sense that he wasn't ejected...total embarrassment when A-Rod juiced him 450 feet to dead central. Best part of Eck's comments...it's not like he's Bob Gibson, who would plunk a guy to start the inning and then strike out the side.
  15. Good, I think we finally bludgeoned this topic to death.
  16. Excellent. He's gonna have 3-way splits this year...
  17. I'm interested in this. Can he convert from switch-hitting to just batting right-handed?
  18. Same here man. In real life I'm on the shy and introverted side. Those qualities did not work well with high school.
  19. Sure they have a lot of evidence. But a 211 game suspension is unprecedented, and A-Rod has the right to present a case against it. Not to mention a little bit of cash to pay lawyers.
  20. Right. What's pissing me off out of my mind about last night's game is that he f***ed us.
  21. But I was asking about the regular season game in July, 2004. The famous picture of Tek giving A-Rod a facial. Bill Mueller's game winning home run off Rivera.
  22. Well, if you want to break it down like this, A-Rod scored 2 runs and drove in 2. One of each was the home run, so he scored or drove in 3 runs. There's your margin of victory. But there's more than that. In a baseball game a lot of what happens is interconnected. If you hypothetically change one thing a bunch of other things can change too. For example, managers make certain decisions based on the game score and situation. Farrell might use a different pitcher in a tie game than he would when we're behind by 2 runs. That type of thing.
  23. If it's misleading, I didn't mean it to be. I do believe that the Yankees got fired up by the beaning and Girardi's ejection. I'm conceding the fact that nobody can prove that kind of thing. But this is part of the lore of sports. You don't say things that can become clippings on the other team's bulletin board. You don't wake up the wrong guy. How many times have we heard stuff like this? Is it truth or mythology? What about the A-Rod-Varitek fight in 2004? Do you think that had anything to do with us waking up as a team that year, or do you think it's ********?
  24. Unlikely, but not laughable IMO. They're only 6 back in the loss column with a month plus left and lots of AL East interdivision games.
