I get the idea, I just don't think Buch would have added a whole lot to the package. My guess is that any teams we asked about good starters were asking Betts or Bogaerts.
I'm talking about throwing Buchholz and his 13 million salary on top of the prospects. A rebuilding team would just want prospects, and a contender wouldn't trade a good pitcher.
Farrell should have been able to use Kimbrel there. He was plenty rested, and he's our incredibly expensive, usually blows guys away 'relief ace', isn't he?
Looks like they're going to have to print up some 'Kimbrel rules' for Farrell.
It's fair to question Farrell, but if Kimbrel consistently turns into a total stiff in non-save situations that's one more significant problem for our pitching staff.
Kimmi, it's not really any different from constantly reiterating that the Buch option was a no-brainer even though you know there are a number of people that don't agree.
I'm surprised no one is making any connection between Buchholz's performance this year and possible residual medical issues. He's not an old man. He was pitching great before getting hurt last year. After his 'rehabilitation' he can't pitch for crap. He might be in the same type of condition Lackey was in before his TJ surgery. I have little faith in our medical staff.
Theoretically we could have. In reality the offers for Buchholz may have been lousy.
What about his medical issues? As I said there were numerous comments about him looking like a TJ candidate because of the nature of his injury last year.
