  1. Yes, I believe Swihart's current trade value is well below Moncada's.
  2. And sabotage the chances for this year and the next few. Brilliant.
  3. Just look up Tom House. House pitched in the 1970's and later admitted to using steroids. He said a lot of players in the 70's were experimenting with steroids. House was on the 1973 Braves, the only team in history to have 3 players hit 40 home runs. The name of one of those 3 is pretty obvious.
  4. Tazawa hasn't pitched since July 3. On July 3 Tazawa had 35 appearances and Koji had 33. You do tend to pass guys who are on the DL.
  5. Add him to your sig.
  6. Tough question without some parameters. At the start of 2013 Sox fans hated Lackey and considered him a colossal bust. By the end of the season that had changed 180 degrees.
  7. You mean on paper at the start of the 2013 season vs. the start of the 2016 season?
  8. Easy choice because we already know what the first group did.
  9. There are some other factors though, namely the team's current circumstances - a dire need for another starter, and a team that may have a legit chance of winning it all. When he traded for Peavy in 2013, I'm sure Ben had little or no expectation that 1.3 years of Peavy would be a better value than Detroit's years of Iggy.
  10. Speaking about the efforts to trade for starting pitching, Dombrowski said, "The names we don't want to trade always seem to start the conversation."
  11. Nobody likes trading high-ceiling guys like Espinoza.
  12. Sure we can get a top pitcher - just have to start with the name Betts, Bogaerts or Bradley.
  13. This team has great potential, that's all I can say at this point. We are still locked in a 3 way race for the division. Price and Pomeranz may be the keys to the whole thing.
  14. That would be great if Ben got the Twins job.
  15. Hanigan did a decent job catching Wright last night, also.
  16. We'll never know really, because he usually deals in un-confirmable rumors, like the 'Buchholz or Miley' one.
  17. Funny how Koji looked probably the best he's looked all year in his 3 previous appearances before this. Did anybody notice any issues when he closed the 2 wins against the Yanks on 21 total pitches?
  18. I'll just repeat myself on one point. I think it's totally appropriate to use your closer in a 4 run game, especially in Fenway.
  19. I figured so, but it was quite subtly done.
  20. He really signed a team-friendly contract. He could have been a free agent after 2017, but he agreed to cheap team options for 2018 and 2019. Yikes.
  21. Totally impossible.
  22. Sure would be nice if E-Rod laid claim to that last rotation spot. We have to take future payroll considerations into account with all this - including the possibility of locking down one or more of our superstar B's.
  23. What does that mean.
  24. Holt is one of the reasons I like WAR. With the Red Sox Holt has a total bWAR of 5.0 in 305 games or about 2 full seasons. A 2.5 WAR player making minimum wage is a huge value.
  25. You want a great pitcher, the other team wants one of the B's.
