  1. Oh, I know...if Dombrowski traded Devers for a rental he'd be crucified...I don't think Devers is going anywhere.
  2. LOL that's funny...this game can warp the mind for sure.
  3. Two teams of bridges and closers - unfortunately, this is probably where baseball is headed.
  4. Man that 11th inning...Mookie ties the game and yet I felt sick after seeing Marrero foul off 3 bunt attempts including one with 2 strikes and Xander pinch run and get thrown out while trying to slide into third with his injured right hand. Bizarre. Thank God we won.
  5. No, but we were out of it in 2014.
  6. It seems that Bogaerts has been playing with an injured right hand and that's probably a big part of the recent slump. Now he's having an MRI on it. Ugh.
  7. But they're 14th in runs per game with 4.71. MLB average is 4.66. Once again, the definition of mediocrity - basically smack dab in the middle.
  8. If there were you'd be hearing about it.
  9. I've been combing through the MLB offensive standings and it's pretty hard to find any neat correlations. One number that stands out for me is OPS+ and ours is 96...pretty much the definition of mediocrity.
  10. OPS is one of the craziest stats ever coined, just taking two other stats and mashing them together. It produces some bizarre results - a .600 OPS stinks. But it can still be useful as long as you realize what you're looking at. The same pretty much holds true with WAR.
  11. There are so many possible explanations. I've been thinking the Yankee pitchers must have great game plans on us, because they have eaten us alive.
  12. It's true. We just seem to have a disproportionate number of pitching busts. With position players we've done pretty damn well the last 10-15 years.
  13. It's not a bad offense, but it's a mediocre offense.
  14. You're a very level-leaded person and I truly respect that, but I think our offensive numbers reflect a little more than a rough patch. This offense has struggled most of the season, with a few periodic outbursts.
  15. You need to calm down a little Nick.
  16. So we really are punchless wonders. We get on base pretty well but ground into a lot of DP's, run into a lot of outs and have little power.
  17. No doubt, but as I said in another thread, the Sox are 11th in the league in SLG. 11th out of 15! That is really bad.
  18. Possibly, but it was ice cold Bogey coming up with 2 outs.
  19. In the AL the Sox are 3rd in OBP, 11th in SLG and 7th in runs per game. So it seems like the SLG is roughly as much a drag on scoring as OBP is a boost.
  20. I concur with that theory.
  21. Who's giving up on who???
  22. Oh, I think it's an issue. They've played a few more games than other teams on average. They're 7th in the A.L. in runs per game, .01 ahead of the Rays, who play in a pitcher's park. The fact is our offense is perfectly mediocre, middle of the pack.
  23. Also, it's 2 games up over the Rays now.
  24. Give up the attempts at humor. You're too stupid to say anything funny.
