  1. We'd all love to have Beltre, and you can bet he'd be very costly.
  2. Sure, but folks are always looking for something to blame. What was to blame for JBJ's poor 2014 batting?
  3. I'm starting to think bosoxmal might be onto something with Mookie's pre-swing bat waving being counterproductive.
  4. They're not going to trade Devers.
  5. Never heard of him. I need folks like you doing my homework when it comes to prospects.
  6. And trying to get lucky with Bogey worked out pretty good. I agree with sk's general point. I think the idea with Moncada was to give him a look. It wasn't his defense that was his downfall, it was too many swishes.
  7. But you showed why he would be cheaper in terms of marginal cost than another Chris Young-type contract. It all comes down to if he's good enough.
  8. We may get both.
  9. Yep, there are guys like Barnes and Abad that have put up very good numbers and are hated nonetheless.
  10. That sounds good, but if Porcello or Price are at 110-115 pitches after 6 you have to get them out of there regardless.
  11. I don't think it's unreasonable for fans to criticize players that they strongly feel have not given it their best effort. In Pablo's case, I think enough has been said and we should just leave the whole thing behind us now. Just my opinion.
  12. To put any sort of Pollyanna spin on this, the Yankees are one of the best offensive teams in baseball and they couldn't do anything against some of our lesser relievers until the 16th. I think in extra-inning games fatigue becomes a factor for hitters.
  13. Rico Petrocelli came off as a wicked cool old dude in the doc.
  14. After a home run and a Wall single on Saturday?
  15. Leave it to these two teams to create such torture.
  16. Nomar did have a lot of great years for the Sox, no question. You might say his timing was very bad, causing a ruckus in 2004 of all years, that really magnified how bad it made him look.
  17. How did the injury occur was the mysterious part. No one saw it. In July he told Francona and Epstein he thought he might have to go back on the DL for a while. Then after he got traded he said 'it's fine now.' Nomar might have been hitting above .300 but his defense was atrocious.
  18. It does make sense if Rusney can cut the mustard. He seems to be playing decently this year.
  19. Nomar crossed a line you don't cross, in my opinion. In 2004 he was a malcontent with a mysterious injury doing his best to f*** the team over and cost us a golden chance for a championship. Theo did the right thing 100% - unloading Nomar and getting OCab saved our season.
  20. A walk-off walk = a WOW...all you need is a shot of the pitcher actually saying 'Wow' as he walks off the mound and it's perfect.
  21. cp, it's just one of the little games we like to play, trying to figure out and predict what Henry and Dombrowski are going to do. It is a fact that the team has sort of been using the 'luxury tax threshold' as their payroll budget for years now. They've gone over it a few times now but not by a huge amount. Of course they also figured out a way to get Castillo and Craig off the payroll for tax purposes. You're certainly right that Henry does have a ton of money and isn't afraid to throw it around. But sometimes he also disappoints some of us with things like signing Moreland instead of Encarnacion, right?
  22. The comments by Yaz were excellent too. Yaz comes across as pure honesty. He doesn't sugar-coat anything. He freely admitted that when Tony C. went down he thought that was the end of their chances.
  23. More like time for you to put down the crack pipe.
  24. I have no ill will toward Pablo. I have no ill will about signing him. My main feeling is that it was just a bad move and we're lucky we have a rich franchise that can absorb something like this and move on from it.
  25. Why no Sabathia this series?
