Hard to say. The .750 OPS in September wasn't bad. A lot of hitters have some wild fluctuations throughout the year. There aren't that many who are truly consistent.
Bogaerts has not been the same since getting hit in the hand on July 6. Obviously they have hoped he could keep playing with it but I don't think his slump is a coincidence.
There have always been confrontations between players and media. Everyone thought it was funny when Carl Everett dubbed Shaughnessy the Curly Haired Boyfriend. The difference here is that Eck is popular and respected by the fans.
I'm just saying let's not jump to conclusions on how Devers will be used. I'm sure they'd like nothing better than for him to be playing every day and raking much sooner than later.
These are exactly the same things people were saying when Benintendi was called up. Devers is just going to be eased into things a little as Benintendi was.
I would never go as far as rooting against my team, especially not for something like this. This story reflects badly but I think it's getting blown up a bit too.
I have a bad tendency to fixate on certain things, but I'm still bothered by Farrell starting Fister in the last game on the home stand as if it was a game we could easily afford to lose. Now the team looks like s*** on this road trip.
