  1. Cora might sit him against lefty starters in hopes that will help get him going. I have the utmost confidence in Cora to handle the situation intelligently.
  2. Plus the Sox have the 6th best ERA in MLB this year and the 3rd best park-adjusted ERA.
  3. Maybe, maybe not. The Scherzer signing actually looks great. The Lester signing is holding up fairly well.
  4. What makes you think anything's changed?
  5. Let's not forget Joltin' Joe Kelly. He's a free agent too. Do we keep him?
  6. And even that would hurt.
  7. JBJ is a better hitter than his numbers so far. He'll never be a great hitter but he can contribute over the course of the season. I would never seriously consider benching him.
  8. We probably don't want to know what it is LOL
  9. J. D. Martinez has been dead solid just about from Day One.
  10. Bartolo Freaking Colon. Where's Youk? He hates Bartolo. I can't believe this prick is still around.
  11. Beeks...where in hell is Beeks?
  12. I like great defensive plays too, but here's a reality check: JBJ as of now is a minus player. His bad offense is outweighing his good defense. One 'advantage' of the offensive side, you might say, is that you are guaranteed to get multiple opportunities to contribute every single game you start. On the defensive side, you are not guaranteed anything as far as non-routine plays in which you have a chance to really affect the outcome.
  13. What would be the point? Leon knows the pitching staff and he's been Porcello's exclusive catcher and Porcello has been our best pitcher.
  14. He pitched great his first 2 games. Then he got the tingles.
  15. On the bright side, in the month of May Vazquez is hitting .300 and averaging 1 RBI per game.
  16. I think the idea is using him as a late inning defensive replacement if you have a lead...but I'm pretty sure you already knew that.
  17. They invested $217 million in the guy, and this is his third season with the team...you'd think they would be capable of determining once and for all if his arm is structurally sound or not. But doubt lingers.
  18. I can't remember if it was in Ball Four or the sequel, Bouton was talking about Seattle Pilots manager Joe Schultz. He said Schultz's two favorite words when something went wrong were 'f***shit' and 'Shitf***'.
  19. We may have overpaid in prospects, but not in dollars. His salary has been reasonable. Basically about the same as we were paying Papelbon at the end of his tenure here. A much lower AAV than Chapman and Davis.
  20. A 3-run jack would be nice.
  21. Well, as we know, the team had trade chips and Dombrowski had no qualms about using them. Also, there was certainly reason to believe Porcello would be better than he was in 2015. Not as good as he was, but better.
