    JBJ finished 5th in voting for MLB center fielders in the 2017 Fielding Bible awards, after a 4th place finish in 2016. That's some solid recognition from independent commentators right there.

    That's true, but so is the statement that you can get a good reliever cheaper than that, as noted on the Ziegler and Reed acquisitions.

    This is the rare occasion I have to defend Stork. Unless he edited it out of his post, he didn't actually suggest trading ERod for a reliever, he just said he was a trade chip, after mocking the idea of trading JBJ for a reliever.

    But why? That team won 97 games and then went 11-5 in the playoffs. They never lost more than 3 games in a row all season.

    Finding good defensive catchers who can also hit is extremely difficult because they're extremely rare.

    Yes, but we're 29-14, a winning % of .674. The 3 Red Sox teams that won the World Series in our lifetimes had average winning %s of about .600. We can't control what the Yanks are doing. They're a really good team and they had a hellacious hot streak just like we did before that.

    Thunder, this is the God's truth, the first Red Sox game I ever went to at Fenway, in 1974, Dick Pole was the winning pitcher.
