  1. 2 duck boat parades though right?
  2. If they had been perfectly truthful they would have said it was the vesting option, sure. But presumably that could have possibly caused issues with the union. The real culprits here were the contract and Hanley's lousy numbers, neither of which DD or Cora had anything to do with.
  3. Who's got rose colored glasses about Devers? The complaints about this thread were because it was started by a Yankee fan. And as I pointed out to him, he never starts threads like this about Yankee players.
  4. It's hard to say how much of a hit it took though. If Hanley is only a .700 OPS guy now that's not too difficult to replace. And the vesting option was a huge complicating factor IMO. I was on board with Hanley at the start but he was so bad in May that he brought this situation on himself IMO.
  5. How does a low level prospect replace Espinoza, a high level prospect when he was dealt? You speak in riddles.
  6. My take on the Pedroia situation has admittedly been influenced by Peter Abraham's comments. He placed most of the blame on Farrell for bungling the whole thing. To me that might be one more reason why Butterfield would feel uncomfortable saying anything about it.
  7. But Dewey, don't you think Butterfield might be a pretty good buddy of Farrell's?
  8. Um, you said we were going to get our clocks cleaned by Houston this weekend. You're a classic goalpost-mover. Keep it up though, you are somewhat entertaining.
  9. Yes indeed. I'm one that's happy to let Cora and DD make those decisions for us.
  10. Personally I think you're way overgeneralizing. The knock on Red Sox teams of the 70's in particular was that they relied too much on the long ball, remember? The 1978 team had 74 stolen bases. The 2018 team has 45 already. But I'm not denying that we've seen a huge trend toward going for the long ball the last couple of years, which there are numerous theories for such as the prevalence of shifts.
  11. Damon is a tool. But I can't forget 6 RBI in the most important win in franchise history.
  12. Jackso is living proof that your theory is correct alright.
  13. A 6-1 lead and Porcello's pitch count was still pretty low. He was probably planning to cover the rest of the outs with Barnes and Kimbrel. If this is what we have to criticize Cora for he's doing pretty good.
  14. I'm not sure things have gone downhill that much. I will always remember how bad our bench was in the fateful year of 1978. Jack Brohamer, Frank Duffy and the immortal Bob Bailey. If we had a guy like Brock Holt that year might have turned out differently.
  15. Butterfield's allegiance may have been with Farrell. They were together in Toronto and Boston. He's not what I would call an objective party in this.
  16. You don't miss much, do you?
  17. Winning the last 2 games of this series against Verlander and Morton and without Mookie speaks well for this team. Benintendi has been awesome lately.
  18. On the plus side Swihart did have a nice RBI single. The guy really needs some reps.
  19. I'm halfway between you and Kimmi. I'm not feeling too rosy about it. I think he might be done but I figure let's wait and see... He had an operation, he played some games, he had some inflammation. I don't think the inflammation is unexpected or unusual. I'm just keeping fingers crossed is all.
  20. I think if someone else said this you might be the first to point out the following: In the 10 games since Hanley was DFA'd, we've scored 56 runs, 5.6 per game. More impressively, in the 8 games without both Mookie and Hanley, we've scored 42 runs, 5.25 per game. So we still have some other hitters...
  21. I think it's a little early to be saying Price is now a #3. I think he still has a bit more upside than that.
  22. I'm no lineup or strategy wizard, but I'm not sure the best use of Mookie is having him try to slap balls to right field on hit and run plays.
  23. Trading Pomeranz at the deadline is one of your stupidest ideas yet. It won't 'free up' jack. He's a free agent next year and he looks like s*** so his value is depressed. You're an idiot.
