  1. Yeah, I must say I don't envy GM's sometimes. If you let a player like Mookie go and he kicks ass somewhere else for the next 5 years it makes you look bad. If you sign him to the big extension and he gets hurt or breaks down it makes you look bad.
  2. I can't answer that, but there was a story in the NY Post about it.
  3. ??? They did if the real reason was the option. I didn't see any of the coverage though. Was Dombrowski directly asked if the vesting option was a factor? Or did he volunteer this information?
  4. Yes, Peter Abraham was, and he reports that Mookie was indeed taking some swings.
  5. Regardless, I think most fans would much rather see a 7 game World Series than a 1 game Super Baseball Bowl. Baseball is a game that people like to watch in quantity.
  6. That's just d-money and Natick.
  7. Or the Jays. Not bad.
  8. I think a few of us remember Lars.
  9. You don't think a good 7 game series is enjoyable or dramatic?
  10. But the divisions tend to be very unbalanced. It's debatable how much of a reward a team should get for winning one of the weak divisions.
  11. The same or less - because they wouldn't let him pitch 300 freakin' innings in a season LOL
  12. C'est la vie. There are also a lot more home runs and the two pretty much cancel each other out in terms of runs scored. If you go a major league game you can still expect to see an average of about 9 runs scored, and that's pretty much 'same as it ever was'. The real culprit in some of these changes is undoubtedly all the defensive shifts that encourage players to just swing for the fences. Launch angle, baby!
  13. Right. I just think the previous Wild Card system was fine. I would argue that it's more fair than the new one. The new one is a Bud Selig Special.
  14. Now there's an all-inclusive blame job - medical staff, trainers and players all in one shot! LOL
  15. And Cleveland would bypass the Wild Card game at 4 games over .500.
  16. We also have to face the prospect we could win 100 games and be in a Wild Card game. Which means that Cora may not have the luxury of doing something like giving Sale that extra rest we'd like to see him get.
  17. Really nice to see CV hitting some balls on the screws the last few games.
  18. So you fully agree they had to BS. You just think they did a bad job presenting their BS.
  19. Devers was 2 for 4 last night. Why not a little optimism? I think he'll get back on track and we'll be happy they just let him work it out.
  20. The Tigers also have a reliever named Buck Farmer.
  21. But he's a free agent at the end of the year, so a team trading for him is only going to have his services for a little over half a season.
  22. What exactly do you mean? I'm sure he's giving it 100%. Many many hitters have had bad stretches of 50 PA's.
  23. Yeah, thanks Bud! I was critical of this new format from the get-go.
  24. If you're expecting discussion that is totally logical and always on topic I'm afraid you've come to the wrong place.
