  1. I'll tell you one thing, if you can get through life without alcohol, rec drugs and cigarettes, you are going to save yourself an incredible amount of money.
  2. It took a while but I think Duquette finally started to get a lot of hindsight appreciation for the 2004 team. He signed Manny and he made the incredible trades for Pedro and D-Lowe/VTek, after all. And if it's true that Pedro had a lot to do with the Sox signing Ortiz, you could even make a case for a link between Duquette and Papi.
  3. Every GM is judged that way, as you say.
  4. Gameday says Ball 4 was clearly Strike 3.
  5. But you despised the Iglesias for Peavy trade.
  6. As I said in a previous post, Verlander had a 5.57 ERA in his first 8 postseason starts. No lie. You can look it up!
  7. I thought JD was playing today.
  8. White Sox starter is changed from TBD to Carlos Rodon, a lefty making his first start of the year after a rehab stint. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/r/rodonca01.shtml
  9. Eh, the real killer on the Bagwell trade was that he was traded for a 2-month rental of a relief pitcher. A good one, but a setup guy, not even a closer. We got a grand total of 25 innings out of him.
  10. That'll teach him to get on base! AL pitchers getting on base in interleague games are always risky business.
  11. Good vibes only - good luck with that, young man, with the crew we have here.
  12. So on the one hand you're complaining about Sale's innings. On the other you're complaining because they used Beeks to give the rotation an extra day of rest. Perfect! As for the off days, there may be more of them but they're erratically placed of course. From May 8 to June 17 we're in a stretch where we play 39 times in 41 days.
  13. Your theory doesn't explain him getting pulled out of those other games.
  14. Seems a little harsh about a guy coming into the game with an .865 OPS.
  15. Except they've pulled him out of a couple of games early recently because of the back issue.
  16. What are you getting at?
  17. I know you're a big Verlander fan. In Verlander's first 8 postseason starts he had a 5.57 ERA. Do those numbers lie? No, they're facts. But they show that small samples are small samples and don't predict the future.
  18. Yes, Johnson had a few bad outings that ballooned his ERA and made him look like a man on the way out. But he has rebounded nicely. Good to see, hope it continues.
  19. Seems like kind of a wild guess to me. But if you're right I will give you props!
  20. Thanks Spud. I don't mean to be beating a dead horse about this. But I believe that because of the vesting option the Sox basically had to lie. Their only other option was to respond to every question with a Bill Belichick 'coach's decision' non-answer.
  21. I don't think even our suspect medical staff would let him take swings with a torn rib cartilage.
  22. Interesting tidbit about Claussen. Any more examples of this? I wouldn't have thought Beeks was being showcased because the Red Sox need every pitching prospect what with the cliff and all.
  23. https://nypost.com/2018/06/07/red-sox-fans-using-cell-phones-cause-brief-delay-at-fenway-park/
  24. Who thought they'd ever see the day the Red Sox rotation would be so stacked with lefties?
