  1. Just one little clarification, Fred. It's strictly his on field antics we're talking about. Machado's misbehaviors have all been on the field, other than the 'Johnny Hustle' bizarro interview.
  2. Former ballplayers often make excellent color commentators - Tony Romo, Dennis Eckersley - and a lot of that has to do with their playing experience. But the majority of good sportswriters were not players. It's just different skill-sets.
  3. I don't know it for sure - yet. But I'm comfortable predicting Harper gets at least $30 million more.
  4. It also seems pretty simple to me that Machado has about the same baseball value on paper as Harper.
  5. So you would agree that non-baseball reasons are a factor. Machado's image is pretty bad right now.
  6. But the question is, why does Harper seem to be looking at a significantly bigger chunk of money than Machado?
  7. Machado's on-field antics appear to have cost him some money, as well they should have.
  8. It would seem more accurate to say that the more Leon plays the more tired his bat gets.
  9. I don't think playing the Rays 18 times a year adds much to anyone's excitement level either.
  10. No, and I knew this was coming. But oldtimer keeps listing the weight at 225.
  11. It isn't very interesting. But it's more interesting than this.
  12. Sure - just change from leagues to conferences.
  13. How about splitting the difference - batting average and slugging average?
  14. And Derek Jeter.
  15. A .320 hitter is also averaging 32 hits per 100 at bats. Kimmi is right, you can use either term-whichever one pleases you.
  16. From the aesthetic/entertainment standpoint, I HATE the Opener, if the Opener is only used for one inning and followed by a guy who pitches 3-5 innings. It has kind of a trashy, sneaky 'bait and switch' feel to it. I don't have a problem with true 'bullpen games' if they're every fifth game or less.
  17. Now stop saying this! (LOL) Leon's career batting average in MLB is .226. That's a stone cold fact.
  18. I think real world examples are the best way to support a point.
  19. Personally I'd be satisfied if they made it a 2 batter minimum.
  20. Only 6 days to the first game vs. MLB competition.
  21. Checkmate.
  22. He's delivering 56.2 bases per 100 at bats.
  23. I see what you're saying, but 400% can still be a real world percentage. (Sales were up by more than 200% over last year.)
