  1. I didn't realize Bryce Brentz was back with us (as a non-roster invitee).
  2. Why is it overhyped? He had two incidents of dirty play in the 2018 postseason alone. On top of telling the world he's not a Johnny Hustle who runs out every ground ball. On top of ruining Pedroia's career. That's all in the 2017-2018 seasons.
  3. Kraft stuff should be posted on the NFL thread.
  4. That's nonsense. The first place anybody looks is last year's record. Then you assess what has changed or what changes there may be. It's pure common sense. Which is not the same as saying that any projection system will be accurate, because obviously there will always be a lot of uncertainty.
  5. He's been discussing one with the Reds.
  6. So you just throw out last year completely like it never happened when you do projections, is that it? I don't even know exactly what you're saying.
  7. I disagree. The two teams are pretty similar to last year's teams, so it only makes sense to use last year's records as a starting point.
  8. So you have the Yankees 2 games worse than their 2018 Pythagorean record, and the Red Sox 8 games worse.
  9. He also had that little 3-run homer off Verlander into the left field porch in ALCS Game 5.
  10. Looks very familiar.
  11. No, because it'll be on to another topic unrelated to the bullpen in a page or two.
  12. New York (AL) Pinheads
  13. I think the TropDome is their secret weapon. I think other teams get depressed just being in it. They swept us in a 3 game series there Aug 24-26, outscoring us 24-5. By far the worst our team looked all year.
  14. Call them the Pods. They haven't quite emerged as an actual baseball team yet.
  15. Devers is only 22 years old. He has a .760 OPS in 179 regular season games. And an .884 OPS in 15 postseason games. Projecting an .800 OPS is hardly a big stretch.
  16. You can't do this, even theoretically, because there are so many other things could have changed as a result. More innings pitched by relievers. A smaller cushion down the stretch resulting in less rest of key players. Et cetera.
  17. Actually I believe slasher was rather displeased when you guys traded for Stanton last year...
  18. Yes, but his fWAR was 6.5. That's exactly why we need the advanced metrics. (I'm messing with you a bit.)
  19. They told the media it was unrealistic that they could keep all of Sale, Bogey and Betts, so we know that much.
  20. The tax rates that you incur in your third year exceeding the first threshold are as high as they go. There are no further increases in Year 4 and beyond.
  21. I think we retain one of Sale or Porcello.
  22. It's time to dig up some of jacko's posts from the 2018-2019 Yankees Rumors thread to see what he said about a few things. In terms of the two starters we will need, I thought we’d go lefty-lefty before the playoffs. Instead, I think Eovaldi is the guy to get again. Without the cutter, Eo was a Juggs machine half the time and dominant the other. With the cutter, he’s untouchable and he dominated when the chips were down. Time to get him again. I think he will get a big AAV, but likely a shorter guarantee with his injury history. I can see a 4 year $75 mil deal for Eo :D:D
  23. They're almost identical based on their career...ah, never mind.
  24. If they could retain both Sale and Betts that would be wonderful. That would mean Porcello, Bogaerts and Bradley are all gone, probably. Acquire a good defensive shortstop from somewhere, I guess. Maybe DD is looking at the bullpen as a place to free up some money to enhance the chances of keeping Sale and Betts.
