  1. Rick Porcello's walk year has been more like a 'walk the plank' year...
  2. It's pretty much always been that way for this franchise, with a few notable exceptions.
  3. jung, I must point out that only 5 years ago, in 2014, the collective ERA of major league pitchers was 3.74! That was when people were freaking out that baseball was being dominated too much by pitchers.
  4. It's all about the rings.
  5. Got it.
  6. I think we have 3 Yankee fans posting here on a regular basis. 2 of them are not obnoxious in the least.
  7. I agree. It's not really fair to say on one hand that the ball is now a missile and on the other hand the pitching is now worse.
  8. Eovaldi had removal of some loose crap from prior surgery this year, correct? You gave us your diagnosis at the time. Also, Eovaldi posted some very good peripherals in the 2018 regular season, albeit in 111 innings: 3.60 FIP 1.13 WHIP 5.05 K/BB He added a cutter to his repertoire in 2018, I believe, which was credited with making him a better pitcher. DD did not sign him solely for the postseason heroics. Other teams were interested. You said at one point you thought the Yankees might sign him.
  9. Now I read that Owings had to scramble to get to Boston and was only working on 3 hours sleep. Not to mention his shock at finding out he was hitting leadoff. Beautiful!
  10. I think Cora has managed this pen about as well as he could.
  11. Yep. Full marks to Station for that one.
  12. Alex Speier was also wondering why, with all those substitutions that were made, Owings ended up playing the whole game.
  13. 23 saves and 22 blown saves. Whether it's fully deserved or not, the bullpen is racking up some horrid numbers in saves and save %.
  14. Time for Dave to clean out his office.
  15. I guess it's not that hard after all. LOL
  16. I must say, this whole weekend was a like a 'f*** you' to the fans.
  17. Owings had an OPS of .980 in Pawtucket somehow. They might want to drug-test him ASAP
  18. Would you believe that when we signed Cashner he had a 1.41 ERA in his last 5 starts? His ERA in a Sox uniform is about 8.
  19. Naturally Owings comes up with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the second inning of his first game and K's on 3 pitches. It's that kinda season.
  20. To look at the sort-of bright side, Rick's contract expired at the right time for us. Which is not to say I wouldn't like to see him have a bounceback season next year. I would.
  21. The Manfred Missile is out of control. 2 rookies each hit 3 homers yesterday. One of them has 7 homers in his first 10 career games. Nice job, Rob.
  22. No doubt about it. Sale-I think will bounce back next year. Porcello-is gone. Price-no idea, he's an enigma.
  23. Yeah, I hope Cashman gets burnt to a crisp for not addressing the pitching at the deadline.
  24. Yeah, maybe. But if you do that you've instantly burned your short little bench. Sorry man, but I'm still a Cora Pollyanna.
  25. Gotta love the pickups of Sanchez and Biagini by the Stros underneath the radar of Greinke. Feels like the moves of a team that is going to win it all.
