  1. Grammatical corrections are not good form.
  2. Cleveland lost. A's playing Angels right now.
  3. It's a tough job, but somebody's gotta do it.
  4. Yeah sure-in 2014, when they also had Verlander, Scherzer and Price. Porcello actually had a better season than Verlander in 2014. C'mon Larry, don't try to pull the wool over our eyes here.
  5. To be totally fair, he did some good rebuilding work when he was with the Marlins.
  6. Sorry to correct you again, but Eovaldi's 'loose bodies' were actually not discovered until after he made his 4th start of the season on April 17.
  7. What do we really know about how badly other teams wanted him? If they had offered a lot, he might be gone already. I believe DD dangled him this past offseason, but obviously wasn't impressed with the offers.
  8. What exactly is the point in hating on the guy on his way out the door anyway? Porcello may not have earned his full contract, but he was by no means a bust. And he came up pretty big in last year's playoff run, too. If you care about the flags, there's a value in that that can't even be quantified.
  9. That's not really the point though. We're a little unlucky in that the AL has teams with better records fighting for the Wild Card than the NL does this year. It's no excuse for our situation by any means.
  10. Show us your numbers on that, please... But seriously, a lot of it can be good old randomness. You will definitely find teams with good bullpens that underperform their Pythag.
  11. Our Pythag record is 78-61, so we've had some bad luck on top of everything else. Not to mention where we'd be if we were in the NL. Just one of those years.
  12. Sure, but then when we play Houston we have to face Verlander every game. You can see where I'm goin' with that...
  13. This year is a disaster. No one's arguing about that.
  14. Using average salaries of MLB pitchers is wrong. Look at his dollar values in FanGraphs, which are based on free agent salary costs, and get back to me.
  15. As opposed to the shallow juggernauts, which are really nothing special...
  16. E-Rod would be the #1 on a lot of teams with his numbers, and the #2 on a bunch of others. An ERA of 3.81 might not look that flashy in Old School terms, but you also have to look at the following facts: 1) The overall ERA in MLB this year is 4.52. 2) He pitches half his games in Fenway, which as always has a Park Factor of over 105 favoring offense. 3) His ERA+ is now 128. 4) He's now 7th in the AL in innings pitched.
  17. Twins reliever Brusdar Graterol: "Name that sounds like the most like a clever new kitchen gadget being sold on The Shopping Network".
  18. I think if you look at the game threads two months ago, like right after the Yankees bombed us in London, you'll see a lot of negativity. The game threads are the easiest place to find negativity, of course. You can also look at moon's Realistic thread around that time. I'll take a look myself if I get a chance. Anyway it doesn't really matter of course. This season is what it is - disappointing from start to finish.
  19. You had lots of company, actually.
  20. Also interesting to see the same stat for other teams this year. Not sure where to find the data.
  21. LOL yes, he should be proud.
  22. harmony stepping up with the humor!
  23. Porcello is having a horrible year this year, no argument. His other years here, though, you can't just look at the ERA, you have to look at innings pitched, Quality Starts etc. Porcello has been one of the most durable, consistent innings-eaters in the game, which was a big part of his value.
