  1. Our farm is absolutely barren right now, so the only way to get food is to buy it at hefty market prices.
  2. Yes, by emptying the farm which had been restocked. So the restocking had to take place first.
  3. I also think the problems with the starting pitching would tend to create some malaise in the rest of the team. When you're constantly falling behind early in games, when you're seeing Sale and Porcello getting knocked around like we saw, it has to take some of the energy out of the rest of the team.
  4. Slash, didn't you say something about the lackadaisical spring contributing to injuries? The Red Sox position players have actually stayed very healthy as a group. Meanwhile, the Yankees have had historical levels of injuries. Once again the facts tend to get in the way of a good story.
  5. Yeah, we can make up anything we want, can't we?
  6. When the team isn't winning as many games as expected I think it's natural to start 'reading between the lines' of what's going on. Personally I believe if the 2019 starting pitching was anywhere near expectations, we wouldn't be having these discussions.
  7. Yeah, I love that argument. It really is an old favorite of some folks.
  8. And now Mookie has a foot problem.
  9. I agree with this too, except I don't think it was much about depleting the farm, because Henry would have expected that - more about not being the right guy to rebuild the farm.
  10. Agree 100%.
  11. I know, the whole thing is making mountains out of molehills.
  12. Trout needs foot surgery and is done for the year. I certainly hope it's nothing that hampers him in the future. But it's another quick reminder of the massive risk in long term big money deals.
  13. The luxury tax rules in the current CBA were actually pretty well designed to be a little scary. If you go absolutely nuts with the spending, you're going to be paying tax of almost 100%. Nobody really wants to pay double for anything.
  14. Well, that's right, the difficult choices are neverending in running a successful major league team.
  15. No one here would predict anything different. A very safe bet indeed.
  16. On that point I can't argue.
  17. They're very different situations, Denny. It's a plain and simple fact. The different spring training regimen this year was heavily publicized, and it was also heavily publicized that the different program had everything to do with the long postseason. Maybe you missed that part.
  18. Sure, just completely ignore the very obvious point of why this year's program, mistaken though it may have been, was different.
  19. I think you're right.
  20. How is doing things differently next spring going to prove anything? They did things differently this spring because of the World Series run. It's going to be two completely different sets of circumstances.
  21. All year long you said the big problem with the team was the bullpen and DD's fault for ignoring it. Now you've changed your tune and it's the slow start and Cora's fault.
  22. If we let Porcello go and trade Eovaldi, that leaves us with 3 starters, one of who, Sale, still has some serious question marks hanging over him, another, Price, who has some question marks as well.
  23. Well, it's not really as simple as that at all. They might keep Betts and JBJ to start 2020, and trade them at the deadline if they fall out of the race. There are myriad possibilities.
  24. Horseshit. The guy won the World Series last year. He's in his second season as a manager. I think maybe he deserves a little defense. Sue me.
  25. The all time high was 5.14 in 2000. Was that the peak of PED use? It was the year before Barry Bonds hit 73 homers.
