    It's impossible to tell because they just show totals. Cot's Contracts gives the full details of the Luxury Tax numbers, it's much better.

    I don't mean to be a spelling prick here, but the word is 'aspirations', not 'aspersions'. Aspersions means just about the opposite. The only reason I'm correcting this is that they're both really good words.

    The Dodgers are doing things very well since they swiped Friedman from the Rays, without a doubt. Still, it's all about the championships, and they really need one soon.

    There's a cynical reason to think there won't be a house cleaning. I don't think John Henry likes losing seasons and I don't think he likes pissing off the fans. It's not good for the brand, for the market value of the team.

    I don't know if trying to win it all in 2020 is realistic or not. A reset does make sense. But that doesn't mean a fire sale.

    Cleaner path to a WS...what does that mean? Last year we won 108 games but had to play the 2 toughest teams to get there.

    Cot's Contracts has us at $242 million. It's hard to figure where Roster Resource gets its luxury tax numbers from. I think Cot's has the right number.

    That was a weird move by Cincy. If you can find somebody stupid like that it certainly helps.

    As far as trading him this offseason goes, there might be a pretty limited number of teams interested. Anyone who trades for him gets a great player, but also a very expensive one (probably around 28 million), and they get him for one year only, with every indication that he's not interested in an extension.

    The chances of Mookie signing an extension now are close to nonexistent. Did you read his comments in response to DD being fired?

    You could say he lacks patience, I guess. But GM's are a lot like players, really. Ideally you want to get the best out of them and then move on. I really believe that's the case here.
