  1. A 3 pitch inning LOL. Minor need that.
  2. 5-5. How 'bout a WTF for the Rangers manager leaving Minor in for 117 pitches?
  3. This game doesn't matter to anyone.
  4. Gotta think good thoughts. Thinks went so crappy this year that the law of averages should be back on our side.
  5. They do now. They basically chuck out the W-L record now, as they should.
  6. Yep, we've got a pocketful of big IFS for next year's rotation.
  7. Well, Dave got us Eovaldi for only 17 million a year for 4 years. In Year One he's given us 62.2 innings and a 6.03 ERA.
  8. Funny the different reactions people have to Fenway. I know it's uncomfortable and all, but I think it's one of the great properties in the world. It would be cool if they could somehow gut it and rebuild the interior without touching the existing dimensions.
  9. Baseball America knows better.
  10. No question that with Porcello it'll all come down to his price. The thing is, if he's gone, we're going to have to replace him and his 180 innings, likely with another free agent.
  11. If you just look at his ERA, sure, it's not great. But Porcello has some very good qualities. He takes the ball every fifth day without fail and he puts up a lot of Quality Starts. He's not going to be as easy to replace as you think.
  12. Things could be a lot worse, actually, I guess. Baseball America just upgraded us to the #22 farm system.
  13. AFAIK, Gorkys has been playing because Beni's had some minor injury issues. The only other OF options aren't especially great either. I think AC has seen enough of JD in the OF for one year.
  14. But this team is not in a great position compared to a lot of other teams right now. And there are some tough decisions to be made. I think Speier has some basis for what he's saying. He's not one to just pull stuff out of his ass.
  15. Thanks Kimmi. I promise not to call on you unless it's an argument emergency.
  16. Personally I'd be happy if he did, Tyler. But I think we're in the minority.
  17. "Impossible to satisfy demands" is just the writer, Alex Speier, speculating on why candidates to replace DD might shy away from the job. It's pretty hard to argue that Red Sox ownership, fans and media aren't extremely demanding.
  18. I don't think 'dysfunctional mess' is an accurate representation of what's being said. Here's an excerpt from Speier's story, which is the same story that floats the idea of Theo returning: But there’s skepticism in the game that several of the executives with such a track record — Arizona’s Mike Hazen (the former Red Sox executive who just signed an extension with the Diamondbacks); Oakland’s Billy Beane and David Forst; Chris Antonetti and Mike Chernoff in Cleveland; Andrew Friedman of the Dodgers; or Jeff Luhnow of the Astros — would leave their jobs to pursue another that is increasingly perceived as unstable. While the resources that come with the Sox job are appealing, the ouster of Ben Cherington less than two years removed from a championship and the departure of Dombrowski after one down year have led to a perception in some corners that the position comes with impossible-to-satisfy demands. "Impossible-to-satisfy demands" seems to be the key phrase.
  19. It's Big Dick's Last Stand.
  20. MassLive.com is reporting that Baseball America has the Red Sox system at #22 in its new rankings. But I can't give any links. The BA site is a pay site and the MassLive site is awful.
  21. FWIW, there's a lengthy article in the Globe today speculating that Theo might very well be on the list of candidates to replace DD.
