  1. Jax, all that really matters is the 4-1 score in my sig line held this year.
  2. Some weaknesses in the Yankees pen were exposed in the postseason. Ottavino and Green were brutal.
  3. I've come to a conclusion...the idea of trading Mookie makes me nauseous.
  4. You just made my head spin like a Tilt-a-Whirl.
  5. There was a lot of speculation it was a different ball in the postseason. In other words, it may already be changed.
  6. Yeah, the analytics keep getting better but the players seem to keep getting more fragile and harder to predict LOL
  7. FWIW MLBTR's prediction for Rendon is 7/235.
  8. Sox pres said that a while ago too. We're all just guessing and speculating our butts off here. It's all just for entertainment purposes.
  9. Having given this some more thought, I believe that the real issue for the Sox is if JD opts out after 2020. In that case I think we will get whacked with a 'true-up' adjustment of 5.25 million, because he got paid 71.25 million over 3 years. So the payroll numbers would be as follows: 2018 22 2019 22 2020 27.25 Total 71.25 That would be an ouch.
  10. Wins Above Sam Horn (or any S.H.) would be WASH Wins Above Steve Pearce would be WASP
  11. If I'm not mistaken, Lester said something about being traded not helping matters for the Sox. But if the reported numbers are true, our final offer was 6/135 and the Cubs tacked on an additional 20, so it seems like it was just a case of the Cubs being willing to pay whatever it took.
  12. There should be no change in the calculations. JD didn't opt out. So in effect nothing happened. If he had opted out and then signed a new deal like Chapman did, there would be some adjustments. It's all a bit confusing, needless to say.
  13. Peter Abraham's piece about JD not opting out says that JD's AAV for 2020 will now be 23.75 mill instead of 22 mill. Which makes no sense whatsoever and which I believe is dead wrong.
  14. And he's itching to finally get paid.
  15. notin has come up with some trade proposals. Also, harmony has quoted Mookie's calculated trade value in $.
  16. A really strange series of transactions was when we traded for Adam LaRoche in 2009, and then traded him away 9 days later.
  17. Plus you want to look at innings pitched, WHIP, K's & BB's etc.
  18. Mookie confirmed that the Red Sox made an offer of 8 years and 200 million-after 2017, I believe. I think that's the only known offer. It was a fair offer. But I can understand him turning it down, because he'll likely get a lot more than that.
  19. It was also a relatively insignificant transaction in terms of the talent changing hands.
  20. That's not my point at all. Slash is speculating that DD 'bid against himself' on JDM. I'm just saying we have no clue who bid what.
  21. Is there a database somewhere that shows all the offers made by teams on free agents? If so, it would be cool to know what the competing offers were on some of these signings by Ben-what he had to beat: Shane Victorino Ryan Dempster Pablo Sandoval Hanley Ramirez Justin Masterson
  22. MLBTR predicted 6/150 for JD. And no one knows what other teams were in on him. We rarely do know these things.
  23. JD was instrumental to the parade. It was an excellent signing by DD, and for a lot less than expected. We can trade JD now if we choose.
  24. I don't see it as unethical here. JD had the freedom to opt in or opt out. He may have opted in simply because Scott Boras advised him that it was better for him financially. The Red Sox have virtually shouted to the heavens that they're trying to cut payroll, and JD already made reference to this himself.
  25. The latest word is that he goes back to see Dr. Andrews around November 15 for a followup exam.
