It was reported that Cole got 8 year offers at the same rate from 2 other teams, which pushed the Yankees to 9 years. Those 8 year deals would also have smashed the previous record. So I think the point stands.

Believe it when you see it. Mookie got a 12 year deal IN THE PANDEMIC. And Cole's deal OBLITERATED previous deals for pitchers.

Yeah, the only way chipping in a lot of money to move Eovaldi and/or JD makes sense is if some really quality prospects are coming back.

I think he means the success of Ben's signings like Victorino was limited to 2013 and turned to crap shortly thereafter.

Nor did Friedman until he went from TB to LA. I don't think Bloom will have a problem with it either.
