  1. We don't have enough prospective second basemen for you?
  2. Yeah, it's Scutaro 100%. This looks like the actual picture. https://www.boston.com/sports/boston-red-sox/2010/09/14/ask_amalie_17/
  3. What?????!!!!! Hell no. Breslow already did the blockbuster and got Crochet without giving up any of the big 3. This would be lunacy.
  4. The first difference is significant, the second is massive.
  5. I'd say no. Because like Devers, his best position is DH. You can only have one DH. The Sox arguably have 3 of them already in Devers, Casas and Yoshida.
  6. I guess I just don't get the point of an impossible hypothetical.
  7. I think the numbers show they can't possibly hit .800 or anywhere close to it as a tandem. Cora probably did his utmost to get them off-hand matchups last year.
  8. DHam and Romy were both utterly horrific against pitchers of their own hand - both .500ish OPS - we're talking helpless. (This was a huge problem for Sox hitters in general last year.) Platoons can be counterproductive when the hitters are that one-dimensional and we have as many pitching changes as we do now.
  9. It's understandable that he's not happy about the prospect of not playing third base any more. But his latest comments indicate he has no desire to cause any problems for the team, which is the main thing.
  10. Much better. I hereby vow to keep my trap shut about Devers and third base until at least Opening Day.
  11. True, but the only statements he's made are that he isn't going to play anywhere but 3B. Those statements are still just kind of hanging there...
  12. Yeah, it's unfortunate but he's really putting himself behind the eight ball. If he won't back down on his refusal to DH or play 1B, he's going to look like a major malcontent, like Manny in '08. And we know how that ended.
  13. And you're just being annoying because you can't help it and you're in reality not a contributor but a troll who's been banned from here a couple of times already.
  14. That call could probably be automated too.
  15. Yeah, you got me, it's 2% below average. Close enough for most people. And the 2.0 bWAR is right around average.
  16. He was dead on average, with a 98 ERA+ and a 2.0 bWAR. And he pitched a lot of innings by today's standards. That has value. This isn't really controversial.
  17. An innings-eater like Crawford was last year is always valuable. It's the Tim Wakefield/Rick Porcello role. Some of Crawford's numbers were very good. A 1.12 WHIP. 15 Quality Starts. He had 6 starts where he gave up either 5 or 6 ER, which obviously kicks the crap out of the old ERA.
  18. There are a bunch of moving parts. In theory both Campbell and Grissom have a shot at being opening day 2B, for one thing. If neither of them impresses enough, it could make sense for Bregman to be opening day 2B, which means Devers at 3B. So it's a little soon to be telling any of these guys where they're playing.
  19. Not sure how much it matters, but seniority typically refers to amount of time with the organization, no?
  20. It was diagnosed as inflammation and no structural damage. What kind of surgery?
  21. Right, you're explaining it well.
  22. You know he's amped.
  23. This loss is on Cora, for taking Bregman out of the game and using Fogell! 🙃
