It's not really such a big deal considering the prospect stockpile this team has. They can have their choice among any guy who becomes available.

No worthwhile FA this offseason. Strasburg is the only really good one, but with his mechanics and history of inconsistency, I'd let someone else pay him.

Trade, not sign. They have a big talent surplus in the IF/C/OF positions. DD is known for using prospect depths to haul in starting pitching. I expect him to do the same thing this season, or next offseason.

I'm half kidding, but you know it's true. Then again, I bet Price is better than Lester over the duration of their deals, so DD already did some rectifying of that mistake.

Something around 260/320/370. Not starting corner OF production. He's great on shorter bursts all over the field though, especially when in a hot streak.

Everything about the FO pisses you off though. They could find the cure for cancer, give it away for free, and you'd complain that they didn't cure cancer hard enough.

It's skill erosion, not a "particularly bad year". And he has been allowed to take several important at bats in game defining moments against tough right-handers, including relievers. Stop making excuses for bad managing. It is what it is.

It might be health too. It's always been heavily whispered that Buchholz can't pitch through a hangnail. Unless he's 100% physically, he's not effective, and that way it's impossible to be consistently effective since pitching is a game of attrition against your own body, and he's pretty fragile either ways. -
What are you even talking about? I have not glossed over anything. First off, you have not been on this board long enough to know my opinion on any of these issues. I have been a defender of Farrell on this board ever since he got on board. The fact that I defend him doesn't make me look over when he makes stupid decisions. Starting Young against RHP is a stupid decision, full stop. I've wondered out loud if Lovullo isn't a better option given the team's overpay to keep him around, but I haven't asked for Farrell's head (I say a lot of stupid s*** in GT's, but we all do) with a clear head. Stop trying to tell me what I think.

The problem with the Buchholz option is that they were already thin depth-wise. Picking up the option is not the problem (stop worrying about the money) further improving pitching depth was the problem. -
Young is an auto-out against righties. You can't justify an incorrect decision based on the production from the rest of the team. We get it, you like Farrell, but be objective.

Benintendi has natural loft in his swing. You can't teach that. He has the profile of the type of guy (average power currently, but makes consistent hard contact with plus bat speed) who can be deemed as "highly projectable". The power should come, but with the rest of his offensive game already being very advanced, he would be a valuable offensive contributor either way.
