  1. Where from in the mitten? I lived there for a couple years.
  2. Can we please give the Sandoval thing a rest?
  3. Yeah, except for the fact that players are human beings and they need to rest.
  4. Players do not make lineup or pitching change decisions. This is a non-sensical post that doesn't address the actual issue.
  5. He gets a lot of the blame because he makes a lot of head-scratching decisions. If he was a better in-game tactician he wouldn't get so much flak. Unfortunately, he's not very good at in-game management.
  6. People barely call players names here. Were you not here when fred was here? It's extremely tame in comparison.
  7. Overall playing time factors heavily into the WAR calculation. That same production extrapolated over a full season probably eclipses 1.0 WAR, not to mention WAR is not very effective at measuring catcher defensive values.
  8. If you don't allow a lot of baserunners, you're not going to give up a lot of runs even if you give up some homeruns. And his HR/FB% is unsustainable. His K% and HR% should stabilize, but there will probably be more benefit than harm.
  9. Context. A quality start, and a 15-2 K/BB ratio.
  10. Two of Porcello's four starts have come against Toronto's high-powered offense. Those don't count?
  11. Williams was very good during his prime years, but Jeter never was anything more than average.
  12. Posada had a weak arm, but was an above-average pitch framer and excellent game caller. Bernie Williams was a decent CF, and Jeter was an average SS who made all of the routine plays and had a howitzer attached to his right shoulder. Not a shining example of terrible up-the-middle defense in WS winners. Also, using one (albeit mostly incorrect) example doesn't prove that statement. Up-the-middle defense is extremely important. Look at the way moribund pitchers play "up" when they reach the Cardinals organization. Molina gets a lot of the credit, and with good reason. A good caller and framer can prove the difference between winning and losing in tight contests. On the other hand, you can hide a weak SS or CF by surrounding them with good fielders, but how do you hide a weak catcher?
  13. Price better not f*** this up.
  14. Youk Of The Nation, moderator.
  15. That is assuming one (or two) of Benintendi, Moncada, or Travis don't blow the front door down, because that would complicate matters.
  16. He used to do ESPN, (baseball and horses) but moved to FSN not so long ago. "PERIODICAZO!" LOL!
  17. And considering yeszir is living the grand life of of the big bucks he makes off of this site, he can share a slice of the socialite pie with YOTN, which he can enjoy before our fated unarmed combat encounter.
  18. I think Porcello's pace is lightning quick compared to how f***ing deliberate he was with Detroit. Part of the new approach probably. 6 K's, 9 GO's is excellent.
  19. Two words: Alfonso Lanzagorta. He does the FSN spanish broadcast and he's f***ing hilarious.
  20. Very enjoyable Yankees offense, yes.
