  1. Or they were waiting for Oswalt's price to drop to this range all along, and figured that Scutaro would be an easier way to shed payroll than Youkilis, their only RH power threat. It makes sense.
  2. Bartlett? Seriously?
  3. Lol thank you.
  4. The same cast of writers that said in an article a couple days ago that Boston needed to do whatever it took to get one more SP? GTFO.
  5. But he didn't have the money to make the signing. How is that a good situation? How was he going to sign a pitcher unless he moved payroll? Was he going to pay Oswalt with bananas? @iortiz.
  6. Punto wouldn't play the same time as Aviles though. It'd probably be McD in the OF, and Aviles at SS. Just my guess.
  7. I disagree. If the Phillies aren't going to extend him, let the Sox sign him as a FA.
  8. The only problem is that, even if they sign Oswalt, the team is going to be a bit top-heavy lineup-wise until Kalish is ready and Crawford comes back.
  9. A bunch of people on the board suggested that, and he constantly said that the Sox would get no one, and that Cherington was sitting around sucking on his thumb.
  10. ^This is the real turn-around. But you don't see one of his "crew" members calling him out on it. At least it's more optimistic than the usual dabble, so it's improvement.
  11. Well played.
  12. Surprising, since according to some of the FO members here at Talksox, Ben Cherington was home sitting on his thumbs.
  13. It's like you skipped through reading class in school. I've spent all of this time defending Cherington from the haters. Hell, even your friend pumpsie has defended him you jackass. Nice spin job,as usual.
  14. The Cher-Bear haters are hurting.:harhar:
  15. Blah blah blah.
  16. You do know they'll have a healthy Youkilis, that Aviles OPS's over .700 and that Kalish and Crawford will come back? Right?
  17. He is a complete bust as a hitter at 21 years of age? That is complete and utter stupidity, regardless of the "he could develop in the future" point.. No offense meant.
  18. You're arguing with a Yankees fan. What did you expect? Objectivity?
  19. All the Cherington haters can shut the f*** up and suck it.
  20. All of those will fill themselves out as the season progresses. Also, i'm interested to hear how Salty is a "liability".
  21. Nadal's injury problems have been well documented throughout his career. The way he runs and swings put a lot of pressure on his ankles/knees/wrists/elbows. Also, the "refreshing himself" thing makes no sense, because your opponent would get "refreshed" too. Why give an opponent you're dominating a second wind?
  22. They didn't choose Ortiz over pitching, they offered Ortiz arbitration expecting him to decline it, netting them picks. It backfired. As for the penny-pinching, what did you expect? They just missed the playoffs with a 170+ million team, have been over the luxury tax two years running and there's a huge crop of pitchers in next year's FA market. Perfect storm for them to try to stay under the luxury cap.
  23. What a load of gibberish.
  24. The lines aren't perfect though. Sometimes they're right down insane.
