  1. Woah there young man, this is not a certainty, even for Oswalt.
  2. The problem with the payroll projections is that nobody actually knows. The could be over, they could be under, they could be at it. We don't know.
  3. Jenks is post-surgical. He's unmovable.
  4. See, here's the point. None of us knows what was the scenario that prompted them to offer Ortiz arb.
  5. This point can also be applied to the Wakefield/Varitek situation.
  6. I still think they're actually below the cap, because they can exercise/have exercised the Lackey option. Otherwise, moving Scutaro quite simply makes no sense.
  7. If they really had to trade Scutaro to free up salary, then that makes no sense.
  8. Well you certainly think you're a know-it-all. "Anyone who could read the tea leaves". So everyone else is ignorant? And i'm nasty..... Anyways, there was a market for Ortiz (Baltimore and Seattle) and the Red Sox did offer him 2/18 before offering arb, which is what a700 says he would have taken.....and he didn't. So the assumption is incorrect.
  9. The player benefits are too high, and iirc the Lackey option has been exercised (i could be wrong) if Ortiz loses his arb case, that would leave the Sox much further under the luxury tax than he predicts.
  10. They don't "disagree with me" genius. What i meant by that is that they are usually wrong with their analysis and predictions. Which they are. Lrn2read. I said that i'm not saying anyone on the forum is an idiot.
  11. No. You have a problem with reading comprehension. Both Cherington and Valentine denied such invitation was ever formally made, and only one source reported it, meaning it was probably a reporter who jumped the gun. What the f*** does this even mean? Posada retired after weighing his options to go to another team, not because he was "classy".
  12. What's funny is that several people are clamoring for the Sox to operate more "Friedman style", and this is exactly what Andrew Friedman does with the Rays.
  13. It seems like yesterday when you and i were being ridiculed for suggesting that very idea Example. Funny how these things work.....
  14. A) The whole "Everyone but Cherington knew he would accept" line is ridiculous. B ) It has been publicly denied several times that the Red Sox offered Varitek or Wakefield any type of contract. Including your beloved Bobby V. Really bro. Stop it.
  15. Hey Jacksonian, Skyrim thread plz.
  16. Yeah it's a pipe dream.
  17. If they moved Pedroia to SS (which they shouldn't do) then they should play the offensively superior Aviles at 2B.
  18. I dunno about that. Wrist injuries are always very complicated. I'd say late April as the best-case scenario.
  19. His skills have noticeably eroded. I don't think that's a chance you want to take.
  20. The problem is, that right now, they can't hide his bat in the lineup. They can do it when the lineup is at full strength, but it would be a problem to start the season.
  21. .643 combined OPS the last two seasons. Can't get on base, non-existent power, ineffective base stealer, and below-average D. Why would we want him?
