    The problem is the ignore lists' weakness to the quote feature. I'm using it, but i can still see when someone says something about me if someone else quotes them. I wonder if there's a way around that.

    One of the things that need to be taken into consideration is that year one of those eight years is 2006 in which he had 17 hits.

    I understand that, but the fact that you need to take voters' subjective notions (as you just mentioned) into account. 2B is a relatively weak crop offensively, and that can only help Pedroia in the eyes of the voters. By counting stats, if Pedroia keeps up his average season until age 37, he'll have borferline HOF numbers, but also all of the narrative that comes along with him (small stature, big heart, INTANGIBLES!). And there's the fact that Pedroia's fielding is very well regarded by statheads and old-timers alike.

    Positional standards would really help Pedroia out if he stays at 2B his entire career though.

    Two lefty vs lefty matchups for two teams that have been horrible against lefties thus far this season. Sounds like a low-scoring series to me. My bad, it's one against Texas then one against the Angels

    Angels cannot hit LH starting pitchers this year (.691 OPS, .651 OPS against lefties overall) so this is actually a pretty good matchup. Keep in mind, that the Angels have the same reverse split problem as the Red Sox, and it could reverse at any time.

    Maybe if you stopped taking everything everyone who you don't like says as a slight, some of these shitstorms should be avoided. If i say "i'm glad you're not the GM of the Sox" i am not calling you an idiot. I am literally saying i don't agree with a baseball opinion you just said. If i want to call you an idiot, i will say "you are an idiot".

    "I'm glad you don't run the Red Sox". How that can turn into a flame war is beyond me. Part of it is the victim act some love to present. After the flame war started, some of us tried to get back into baseball discussion, and the same guy who's here whining about that silly comment wouldn't let up with the flamethrower.

    With less than 200 HR's and less than 1,000 RBI (using the numbers posted above for reference)? Doubtful. With 200 HR's, 200 SB, 2500 hits, 1,000 RBI, 2 MVP and 2 WS rings, his position (2B) may just get him in. Otherwise, 3K hits would be a must IMO.

    Again, Ciriaco and JBJ go down, Nava and Gomes go back to being a straight platoon and Iglesias becomes a super-sub that gets 3-4 days of play a week. It just makes too much sense. @BSN: I think he'd almost certainly clear waivers with the way he's played.
