  1. So you're saying that if he was a C or 2B with those numbers he wouldn't be a top-10 prospect?
  2. Prediction: Johnny Gomes does something awesome, TalkSox site collapses for an hour. Red Sox beat Texas 4-3.
  3. His post says Frazier at number seven.....
  4. He's also, again, not the best position player. He's the guy with the best all-around tools. There are guys in the draft who are better at individual or clusters of tools than he is and would likely reach the Major quicker.
  5. How about giving Rask some credit there Dojji?
  6. I would argue that Papelbon's best season was 2006, and Ortiz' best season was 2007.
  7. Not best position player. All-around best, as in the guy with the widest above-average skillset. Need to actually read what the post says.
  8. Cy Young's 1901 season probably belongs in the rotation
  9. Actually, you're right. That makes him even more expensive in terms of prospects.
  10. Stanton only has two full years plus what's left of this one of control though.
  11. Peavy about to go on the DL with a rib injury, out 4-6 weeks according to initial reports. No thanks.
  12. Peavy has a 4.30 ERA this year and one healthy season in the last three. I don't see it.
  13. Neither of them had two+ years of control left at a salary as low as Stanton's. And Upton's situation also lowered Arizona's leverage when negotiating a deal. This is a different situation, because the Marlins don't have a specific desire to trade Stanton. They would have to be convinced to trade him. That would take a monster package.
  14. That's kinda misleading though. If he was a C, 2B or CF, he'd still be a top 10 prospect. What you meant to say is that if he played a corner he wouldn't be a top prospect.
  15. Dwight Evan's 1984 is probably as good as it gets for RF: .295/.388/.532 .920 OPS, 147 OPS+, 32 HR, 104 RBI, 121 R
  16. Yeah you're right, 1965 is the season where he played *some* RF. So i guess a reserve OF slot would be the solution.
  17. It's a trend mostly. But i think it has to do with the fact that big, lumbering power hitters are usually best suited for a position that doesn't demand much mobility. 1B is the position best suited for them under that criteria.
  18. And you know this how? If the Marlins sit back and wait they could easily get four top prospects for Stanton. That's why deals for players like him rarely get made.
  19. If WMB can improve his plate selectivity to the point of having a semblance of an idea of what the phrase "swing at strikes" means, he could be the solution at 1B. He has the power, and if his pitch selection was a bit better, he could easily become a 270/340/500 bat with 30 HR/100 RBI averages.
  20. A 1967 post pertinent to the thread: Yaz' 67 season in RF: .326/.418./622 1.040 OPS 193 OPS+, 44 HR, 121 RBI, 112 R
  21. Cabrera and Braun failed tests. This is an entirely different beast. Again, we will see.
  22. First base is probably the easiest position to fill on a team. Maybe you could enjoy the good times the team is going through without digging for something to complain about?
  23. That's another thing i doubt happens because of the ever-looming presence of the MLBPA. We will see.
  24. I know they possess all of this evidence. The problem is that presenting it on an individual basis, and proving the accusations in front of outside arbitrators is not a two-day process. It's going to take time, and some of them are going to get away with it.
  25. I don't get why MLB thinks they're going to be able to suspend any of these players in the "next two weeks" as they say. This is a highly contentious issue that's going to have to be taken to an outside arbitrator. A sworn affidavit from a person with as little credibility as the biogenesis idiot is not going to do it. They're going to need to establish paper trails and will need to listen to witnesses from both parties for the case of every player. This is going to take a while.
