  1. You were still wrong, you are still wrong, and this isn't strictly an "A and B" type conversation, as you can see from the number of posters participating in it. But in your specific case, you've been pounding your chest about being "right" that they called him up because he was ready. Some of us posit he was called up because they were desperate after whiffing on Beltran. What is the misconstrued argument here?
  2. Do you actually know what a strawman is?
  3. Tom Mcreery at .390. Ty Cobb amongst full time regulars at .378.
  4. What YOTN meant was that it wasn't the most clever return for a former poster since he didn't change IP's and posted the exact same way.
  5. There's all of the reason in the world to believe, based on prior numbers and league trends, that his BABIP should regress significantly. Not necessarily to .300, and not necessarily to a .250 batting average, but still.
  6. This is incorrect. They offered an MLB deal for similar money but would not guarantee a rotation spot.
  7. Benintendi would not be here had they gotten Beltran (and they thought they did). They promoted him as a reaction to the Beltran miss IMO.
  8. But was that what really happened? That's what I'm questioning. The Sox did not bring up Benintendi until after they struck out on Beltran. If it had not happened under those circumstances, I'd probably believe this assessment.
  9. Their recent history is not promising. However, I will freely admit Dombrowski has always been very aggressive promoting prospects and rarely misses when he does.
  10. You need some demerol.
  11. For all intents and purposes, the Red Sox brass had indicated Benintendi was a September callup. You were ridiculed because the idea of bringing him up before that out of desperation was stupid and might blow up in their faces, and that's still the point. "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it". I've got my fingers crossed that Benintendi doesn't become another Conforto or WMB.
  12. The talksox scout squad knows better broski.
  13. Should I bring up examples that strengthen the other position? Isn't that up to the person I'm debating? Anyways, I digress. Still, that is a very ambitious comparison.
  14. I'm not laughing about it, but I'll be pissed if this ends up damaging the kid's MLB career.
  15. Truth is based on fact. There is no fact here, only wishful thinking and very flawed logic.
  16. Hilariously, this is exactly what Mets fans were saying about Michael Conforto last year. Rushing kids ends up being very damaging in a lot of cases. But all of the Talksox talent evaluators know better, so I'll trust your judgement.
  17. But Heyward had something Drew and Beltran did not: Upside. He's still pretty young.
  18. Carlos Beltran: Year 1 of his Mets contract: .744 OPS. Rest of his Mets contract: .896 OPS. There are a lot of examples of guys with Heyward's profile (younger guy, athletic, good skillset) struggling to adapt the first year of his contract, then turning it around.
  19. But that's comparing apples to oranges. He did not have full autonomy with the Sox, as he now does with the Cubs.
  20. Espinoza is a RHP.
  21. I actually think he will bounce back. The year-1 swoon for FA's with big contracts happens a lot.
  22. Year one of a very long contract.
  23. I'd say his success rate is sky-high since he got to the Cubs. Can't really find any other straight-up blunder than Edwin Jackson.
